This hotel is in a fantastic location on South Beach, a 2 minute walk to the beach. It's not state of the art or fancy, but ... it's a good place to sleep and rest up when you are not out. My room was a decent size, pleasant, quiet and most importantly clean. There is a $10 per night added "resort" fee, which is very lame because this hotel is not a "resort". The staff says the "resort" fee covers towels and the chairs that you may use to take to the beach. These types of things should be included with one's stay. Some of the staff members were quite friendly, while others were not helpful and very unfamiliar with places in Miami. Best to make your own restaurant reservations rather than relying on the staff to do so. Overall I was satisfied. I knew that it was not a luxury hotel so I didn't expect anything more than what I got. Actually, besides the hidden "resort" fee, I was pleasantly surprised with my stay.

AS SOON AS WE WALKED IN I WANTED TO THROW UP. THE COLOR, PICTURES AND THE SIZE OF THE ROOM. DONT PAY THE EXTRA FOR THEIR ... SUPERIOR ROOM, ITS A SCAM. COMPLAINED AND GOT MY SUPERIOR ROOM WITH DIRTY SHEETS AND HAIR ON IT AT NO EXTRA CHARGE. COULDNT EVEN GET A FULL REFUND BACK. I WAS GLAD I DIDNT HAVE TO SLEEP ON THAT BED. Horrible experience...European Queen??
Dee Oct 16, 2009
The hotel parking sucks! They don't have many parking spots and they charge you $25 a night extra for parking. The "queen" ... size beds they advertise are "European queen" which equates to "American full size" beds. In addition to the $25 charge for parking they charge you a $10 service fee. The bathrooms are falling apart and the place is not worth the cost! Would never go there again!

sj Oct 7, 2009
First of all, The hotel itself looked nice but inside everything was falling apart. Dirty furniture, Paint peeling off the ... walls, most staff was unecessarily rude. The rooms were ridiculously small... The bathrooms were old and outdated. They had a minibar inside the closet. The best thing about it was that the ac was working and the beds were comfortable. On our last day the housekeeping lady just barged in without knocking and it wasnt check out time yet with the occupied sign outside the door.. The Hotel looked nothing like the pics on the website.

This place was horrendous
dancer doc Oct 4, 2009
Ya'll need to drop this one off your list. It was disgusting. I didn't take my shoes off until I sat on the bed. Outside ... lights so bright it was like sleeping in the daytime. Streets so noisy until 3AM. Towels looked like they were ancient. The bathroom floor-don't even get me started. Parking was inadequate at best. They had one person at the desk, one at the little bar and NO ONE acted like they wanted to help. All of the hallway carpets were so stained you couldn't tell where one stopped and the other one started. Add to that a "resort" fee for towels and beach umbrellas that I never used because I was there on business. I wish I could get more than a 10% discount on my next booking because this place was a huge waste of my money.

Not Very Happy....
Susie and Fatima Sep 28, 2009
Once we got to the Carlton Hotel we were excited, this was my first trip so I was super hyped up. Once we got there and went ... to the room it was so musky and smelled disgusting. We thought maybe it was just cause they turned the AC on, but once we settled in, left and came back we still had the same issue. On top of that the Air Conditioner wasn't even working so the room was so hot. It felt like a 100 degrees in that room. I go and complain to front desk during the night shift and he totally didn't want to hear it. He acted as if we didn't know how to work anything. He preceeded to the room after we told him that it's cooler in the lobby then the room, I might as well sleep here. He had such an attitude and wasn't polite whatsoever. After telling him over and over again about the issues, about a half hour later he decides to give us another room. I feel like his job is to make the guests happy. He didn't even attempt to, it was more like he wanted us to beg and that was definitely uncalled for. Even when we got this new room (room 109 was the old one and room 129 was the new one) the people above us made so much noise and banging throughout the entire night. We complained and still was bothered by all the noise from this one room. Nothing was done. I was not satisfied with the service at all. The morning staff were more accomadating as well as the bartenders and cleaning dept. Other then that I was very disappointed being that this was my first vacation. We shouldn't have to literally explain over and over again what's going on with a room. We also were suppose to get a mini fridge and didn't get that either. I mentioned it to the front desk and they said we weren't suppose to have one, but I told them when I booked the tickets they gave u the option to have 2 queen size beds or one king size bed with a mini fridge. The whole purpose in me and my family getting a king size was for the fridge. On a scale from 1 to 10, 1 being the worse and 10 the best. The Carlton gets a 2.5, I will not recommend this hotel to others at all. We should have been reinbursed!

I was so upset at the misleading ad from orbits I would like my money back. This hotel is not steps from the beach. The ... pictures are very misleading. Cheap old furniture, We had 2 awful windows with views of the alley. Very noisy garbage truck, cars honking. Old run down, hotel. receptionist was rude. Just bad. Nice flat screen no reception. Air didn't work well, smell in room. This hotel is suitable for college kids maybe that are just here for location.

College Student Sep 14, 2009
We were three college students and this hotel was perfect for us. It was near the beach and close to ocean drive where ... everything is happening. We could pretty much walk to all the night clubs and the one day we decided to take a cab back it only cost us a couple dollars. The hotel was clean, rooms kind of small, but we weren't expecting much. There are no chests or drawers, only a suit case so be prepared to live out of your suitcase.

Girls weekend Sep 14, 2009
i stayed 2 nights in the hotel with my friends. the location is ok - close to the ocean, restaurants, clubs. the staff is ... friendly. However, the hotel is DIRTY. We found somebody's towels in the shower when we first came to the room (was it cleaned - who knows?) we found somebody's hair on the "clean towels". The pool was realy dirty - layer of hairs, dust and whatever on the water. You have to drink A LOT to stop paying attention to all this. So, we did:)
