[...] I did not expect a hold of $100.00 for one night. Since I had already payed $60.00, I think for one night $25.00 hold ... would have been more reasonable. I stayed 7 days at another resort and only payed a $25.00 deposit and I stayed 7 nights. The actual stay was great. Great view for oceanfront. Hotel was clean. Hotel could use an update on the matresses. They were not too comfortable. I would still recomend this resort.

My hubby and I went for an anniversary getaway. We chose here because the rates were GREAT [...] The hotel is old, but ... right on the beach. The pools and hot tubs were great. On our first night we had a first floor room which was noisey, but upon our request we were moved the next day with no problems. The staff could and did answer all our questions. [...]was very helpful with directions. If you are looking for glitter and posh it is not here. but for a cheap getaway it did fine.

It was nice once we got a different room..They dont tell you that the "Jamaican Suite" is the motel to places down from the ... nice hotel that they show pictures of. [...] We got to this amazing hotel and checked in, and were handed a key and told our place was down the street two buildings over. We got over there and found ourselves in a rundown motel, with a "ocean front view" (if you walk out of your room and peak around the corner) We immediately got on the phone and asked what it would take to get into the nice hotel. $67 later they got us into an amazing room with a great ocean front view. Not sure whos at fault for being so misleading, but once we were in our new room, the place was awesome. We were there on our honeymoon and it was memorable.

Disappointed
Norma Sep 29, 2009
I made my reservations for the Carribean Resort. I was very disappointed that my room was at the Jamacian Hotel. I am a ... regular at Myrtle Beach and I would not have made reservations at the Jamacian. When I made the reservation, the room described was not the room that I got. I had stayed at the Carribean before and the room sounded like the room I had there. It was several years ago and I knew (thought) it would be in their original building which was fine. It was not bad enough that I was sent to the Jamacian, when I walked in, I immediately noticed how dirty the floors were. Then, I stepped in the puddle of water on the kitchen floor. My mini fridge had turned off and defrosted causing the water to run out. I could not tell if it was on or broke because the dial inside the fridge was stripped and did not work. When I wiped it up with a towel, it confirmed that the floor was disgusting. I called the front desk and they sent maintenace right up (at 11pm). The staff seemed very nice. He fixed the the fridge and put in a call to have my floor mopped the next day. After the initial shock of having to stay where I had not planned on staying and having my floor cleaned, it was not that bad. The balcony was big and the pool area was nice (but a bit small). The beach was very nice. I never visited the main hotel after checking in. I don't know if it is an [...] issue with not being forthcoming about the different location or if it is a Carribean Resort issue, but I will not make reservations there again.

Although they mixed up our rooms at check-in because we had several reservations, they made up for it with complimentary ... breakfast. The rooms were clean and the entire atmosphere was great. I would definitely come back and stay at this hotel.

The boardwalk was fun which is a few miles away. If you don't mind the walk I would recommend walking from the hotel because getting to the boardwalk at night is HORRIBLE if you drive the main strip (Ocean Blvd.) However, if you go back out to Hwy 17 and drive up to 9th St it's not bad either. Great entertainment and restaurants all within walking distance.

I stayed at the Chelsea and it was very quiet. It was labor day weekend so everyone was staying in the Caribbean resort which ... let us have the pool and the hot tub to our selves. I have to admit that parts of the day it was a lot of traffic on the street but not that bad. the only bad thing I can say is I didn't like the parking lot. It was overcrowded and they really need bigger spaces to park in. hope your not driving a truck. but it was great

Nice stay
Sthrnblle2004 Sep 7, 2009
We took a trip for my daughter's birthday Labor Day weekend. The location was great. The pools were freezing cold, and the ... hot tubs were warm. However, there were PLENTY of kid friendly pools, even though they were freezing. The breakfast buffet was expensive but good. We had to ask for blankets for the pull out sofa and murphy bed. The kitchen was fully stocked with dishes/pots. There was a $100 deposit that I wasn't aware of, so be prepared to pay for that!

We have stayed at the Caribbean Resorts (3 bedrooms in the Caymen Towers). We love it! It was clean and the rooms are ... spacious and up-to-date (4 hdtv !). The kitchen is large with plenty of space to move around. Elevator in the Caymen Towers are fast ! The location is superb (directly on the beach, very close to all attraction such as Broadway at the Beach, Seafood restaurant, etc.) Tips: If you do not like the crowd, go at the Jamaicain pool. Very quiet. However... you need to wear a bracelet all week if you want to use the pools.

Jan Aug 20, 2009
check in was a nightmare I stood in line for an hour. Parking was a problem I drove around the parking garage a couple of ... times before I got a spot. Service was terrible I found roaches in my room called to have maintenance take care of it 2 hours later no one came. I asked for another room they sent me down the street to a dump I lost a night that I paid for I drove to another Hotel and stayed there. I will never go back to the Caribbean Resort.

Roach motel
Emily Aug 3, 2009
Although I enjoyed my time in Myrtle beach it the most enjoyable part was not being on the room. The accomodations were ... disgusting. After finding a roach in my room I was dismissed by hotel mgmt told it was a "palmetto bug" which is slang for American cockroach. The staff offered to spray but could not or would not give me a new room as requested. Also I booked this hotel based on the photos orbitz had of the much newer nicer tower not the roach motel next door. I feel that both orbitz and hotel mgmt did not Offer me any assistance with this and it is greatly disappointing.

the beach lovers! Jul 10, 2009
It was a very pleasant surprise! We stayed at the Jamaican which is right next to the Carribean & it weas great! This was ... actually the first time I chose a hotel based on reviews alone! We were right on the beach, had a private pool (just for our little hotel) & a huge balcany! The best part was we didn't have to go up & down an elevator the whole trip. It was easy to run back to your room from the beach or pool! Also, they have several pools to choose from, kid-friendly, a water slide, ping pong, shuffle board, the lazy river, & the Sea Captain Inn (restaraunt) delivers right to theh pool!! The Jamaican has only 4 floors with wonderful room sizes! It was perfect! I would definitly recommend this place! Next year we will be staying here again!
Traveler type: Family
You have to try the Sea Captains Inn. Right between the Carribean & Jamaican! Excellent food & reasonably priced! Bring the whole family fro dinner or order from their lunch menu right from the pool!!
