I booked this hotel because of the price (under $100 a night) and was totally wowed by the room! The decor was nice and clean ... and the room was very spacious, but I opened the balcony door and there was the pool and beyond that the beach and the ocean! Great location! It doesn't have continental breakfast, but the front desk even gave me a coupon to use at a resturant with a breakfast buffet that is within walking distance. Magnolia was delicious and very very reasonably priced. :)

Relatives suggested the Best Western Carolinian Beach hotel as one of the hotels to stay in during our weekend there for a ... cousin's wedding. The hotel is quite simple and nice - not fancy - but the location is the best! Waking up each morning to see the ocean from the balcony was fantastic!! And walking along the beach at nice was so very calm and peaceful. I would definitely stay there again for a weekend of rest and relaxation.

The kids really enjoyed the pools and being so close to EVERYTHING. We just did not like the room much. The view was great ... it just did not appear to be too clean. We were in the older part of the hotel. Potentially the towers part may be cleaner. Would recomend for short trips like we took. we were there for two nights. Also, they do not have the Disney Channel.

The rooms were very nice and clean. I was a little afriad booking on line not knowing if the place would be old an out dated ... but I felt relaxed once I arrived. The staff was great. One small complaint, house keeping did not want to clean my room the next day. She did not want to for some reason, nothing against the hotel just that one person. Staff took care of within minutes. Easy Beach access.

We stayed here with our five year old boy for three nights in the end of August. It is a great location with easy parking ... across the street. There are many restaurants within walking distance MANY more within a two to five minute drive. The room was small but all we did was sleep there so that really didn't matter. The pool area was crowded but not a big deal because we went for the beach. We would stay here again. It was a bargain at $84/night.

Hotel had updated decorating in rooms - nice. I would give it an A for cleanliness (not A+). We were on the beach, but we ... had to walk 2 blocks to our car, which is a little bit of a hassel for going out to eat. Had a complete kitchen that was really nice, but we didn't want to use it. Fast food was very convenient. Our activities consisted of beaching & shopping for school clothes at outlet mall. Biggest problem: I was w/ a teenager who wanted to sleep in & I guess a laundry rooom was directly over us, because once that washing machine started...no more sleep! We were on the 2nd floor & there just seemed to be A LOT of noise at all hrs. They wouldn't let you have a luggage cart yourself, which meant you had to tip - not a big deal, I guess. Pools were nice, but we love the beach & you couldn't have been any closer!

The staff was very friendly & helpful. The only problem we had was at check in because someone had left their car blocking ... the entrance so everyone was having a difficult time unloading but the staff was trying to help and direct us around the deserted car. The cleaning staff worked around our schedule to clean the room. I would recommend the Carolinian to my friends. It was located close enough to restaurants to be easy walks. The beach area was clean & easily accessible. Thanks for your help in getting a great deal.

Magnolia's just a block away closes at 9 but let us in at 8:58. Good real home grown food. The Spring House about 2 blocks away was willing to let us order from their lunch menu 30 minutes early because that was what our teens wanted to eat.

Avoid Magnolia's Cafe. The hotel recommend's this restaurant. We went there and the waitress stated she wouldn't recommend ordering off the menu, but instead eating at the buffet. The buffet had very limited choices and the food was not good. There are a bunch of other restaurants a short drive away.

The hotel gave us a $2 off coupon for a breakfast buffet at Magnolia's @ 26th across the street. It was disappointing. With the discount, it's still $13 a person for all you can eat mediocre food. There are several pancake houses within a block or two. You'd be better to have a hot, made-to-order breakfast for less money.
