Just need a little bit of walk to explore old sacramento, and capitol park . You can watch movie at Empire Imax theatre nearby, or if there's a play at sacrameto community center, all just in a walking distance. There's also alot of dinning choices, Italian, Japanese, Western, Seafood, all kind.

I love Best Westerns
Double Fred Jun 8, 2009
This was consistent with all of the other Best Westerns I have stayed at in the last several years. They have free ... breakfasts and in-room coffee. Free computer in the lobby to check email. Clean room. It's close to the convention center, but quite a bit less than the hotels that are closer. Lots of dining options on the walk to and from the hotel to the convention center. Plus, not too spooky to walk back at night in the dark.

Was there for Democratic State Convention. The location was downtown and convenient. Spent little time at hotel. Staff ... friendly and accommodating, rooms clean, breakfast O K but would have been better had there been a way to heat rolls and biscuits, which seemed not very fresh, and fruit past its prime.

Great Location
Theresa Jan 1, 2009
The Best Western Sutter House was very nice and comfortable hotel, the location just a walking distance from downtown ... Sacramento attraction such as old sacramento and capitol park. There were a lot of restaurants choices around the hotel location. The staff were friendly, the room just as large as what we expect and in front of swimming pool area, the pillows comfortable, everything clean and nice. We had waffle, egg, apples for breakfast. Everything just right. But I like the location, it just right.

Good Value
Rose Dec 27, 2008
The Best Western Sutter House was in a good location for visiting downtown sites. We arrived at our hotel before check in ... time. The rooms (two) were ready and we were graciously accomodated. It was in easy walking distance of both the capitol, Old Town Sacramento, and the Railroad Museum. The room was nicely appointed which was a pleasant surprise. We found it to be a very good value for a downtown hotel. Road traffic was loud, but did subside late in evening. All in all, it was a good choice and a great value.

The Best Western Sutter house was very nice. Comfortable Beds, Nice, Big Solar-Heated Pool, Great Room Service, Very Nice ... Area. The rooms were large and had a nice view of the buildings of Sacramento. The location was great--it was two blocks down from The Capitol Building, Three Blocks Down from the Department of Education and the Department of Health Services, and Four Blocks down from the Mall and Old Sacramento. There was also a nice Italian Restaurant (Sofia's) in the same parking lot as the hotel.

Very Clean & Comfortable
Lori Aug 22, 2008
The Best Western Sutter House was very clean & well equipped. The room was large, the bed was very comfortable, and I liked ... the secure feeling that there was no outside entrance to the hallways & rooms; only through the lobby & up the elevator. The hotel was close to many restaurants, shopping and the Capital. The gentleman who assisted me at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. Although my stay was very brief, I was very impressed with my entire experience.

Great location
Sandra Jun 16, 2008
Since we traveled to California by train, this hotel was a great location so near the Amtrak Station and also to car rental ... location. The rooms were clean, comfortable and roomy. The only disappointment we encountered was that the Italian restaurant Sophia was closed on Sunday night (the night we were there) and we had to walk several blocks to find another restaurant. We were looking forward to some good Italian food and ended up eating at a brewery. I would recommend this restaurant to those visiting Sacramento since it is close to many tourist sites and also very accessible to the Interstate 5 that will take you north to wine country.

Great winery in Upper Lake right on Clear Lake called Ceago. Some of the best wine we have ever tasted (we had a case shipped back home). About a two hour drive from Sacramento but the drive is beautiful and scenic, especially when you get off of Interstate and start the ascent into the hills.

Convenient Location
Michelle Mar 30, 2008
I first noted that the parking garage felt secure as they had smiley face signs up notifying everyone that they had cameras. ... The staff was very friendly and helpful. I liked that to get to the rooms you had to go through the lobby. The decor was nice and the room was clean. The beds were comfortable and the pillows nice and soft. The hotel is not very far from Old Sacramento where we visited prior to checking in. That evening we went to a very nice fondue restaurant called The Melting Pot and it was only 4 blocks away. We asked if we would feel safe walking back from the restaurant to the hotel in the evening as we weren't familiar with the neighborhood. The staff informed us there was lots of activity and foot traffic around this area due to the restaurants, bars and cafes in this area. They were right and it was nice to just be able to walk the short distance instead of trying to find parking. The continental breakfast was very generous.

NIce hotel, convenient to historic & downtown Sacramento
Joan Feb 23, 2008
Best Western Sutter House in Sacramento was a pleasant surprise. Very conveniently located about 4 blocks from our trade show ... at the Sacramento Convention Center. The hotel design is very secure (important to women travelers, seniors & families). The lobby and garage are on the ground floor and the only entrance to the rooms, pool & breakfast is through the lobby. The lobby elevator takes you up to the 2nd & 3rd floor where rooms either face the pool, street, or parking lot for the restaurant next door. The room was newly re-furbished and very comfortable. The room was adequately large enough for the pillow top king size bed, loveseat, armoire & desk, complete with Fax machine and free wireless internet. Our only complaint is that the marble floor in the bathroom was very cold!

Sacramento's historic waterfront district is a very short ride from the hotel. Cobblestone streets,1800's style buildings, paddlewheel steamer hotel, plank sidewalks, antique trains, quaint stores and lots of great restaurants make this several block area a very popular tourist destination on the riverfront.

Ruth Feb 8, 2008
Best Western Suttter home was a nice place with a few exceptions. The bathroom had a very strong cigarette smoke smell and ... the hotel was completely non-smoking. Hardly any hot water pressure was available to take a shower. The room was decorated very nice and the bed felt incredible really enjoyed the set up with the exceptions I encountered.
