The location was perfect, just steps away from the main visitor center, city gate and the Castillo de San Marcos. The ... continental breakfast was way more than I expected! They even had hard boiled eggs! Lots of various cereals, oatmeal, yogurt, fruit, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, danishes, cinnamon rolls, etc... The rooms were normal size but the bathroom was very large with a fancy counter, toilet area and a nice shower. It was clean, didn't smell bad, large T.V. with great reception, and they even had mints on the pillow! I didn't use the pool or hot tub but both were available. Only thing I didn't like was the vending machines were outside in the back of the hotel, so at night alone it's a bit scary. The vending should be moved to the front lobby doors just outside or inside the lobby itself. The staff were all nice, friendly and had good senses of humor. The nighttime clerk (forget his name, but he was there Thurs. Feb 26) was really helpful and nice too. No complaints, I got a good rate for a weeknight and unless you are staying INSIDE the city gates of the historic area, this is the closest hotel you will find.

You do not need to bring your car into the historic area! Leave car at hotel and walk. Also, the Castillo de San Marcos is closed when the park closes, but that's only the INSIDE of the fort. You can walk around the fort and walk up to it up until midnight. It's fun and kind of spooky, the water is right there too, I recommend a night walk of the fort area!

You do not need to bring your car into the historic area! Leave car at hotel and walk. Also, the Castillo de San Marcos is closed when the park closes, but that's only the INSIDE of the fort. You can walk around the fort and walk up to it up until midnight. It's fun and kind of spooky, the water is right there too, I recommend a night walk of the fort area!
