This hotel was a good place to stay if your plan is not to hang around at the hotel the whole time. It was clean and ... reasonably comfortable and cheap. It is not an all inclusive resort where you lounge around all day by any means, but that does not have to be bad, it just is what it is. It does have a travel agency inside, however it would be better if you could book your tours with them online ahead of time.

Home away from home
Cancun Frequent Traveler Sep 20, 2009
The Clipper Club is the place for vacationers who like to "get away from it all". It is a nice quiet place with a small ... palapa restaurant with a very attentive staff. There is also a small salon where you can get everything from haircuts to facials, from mani/pedis to massage (I highly recommend the massage--Aris and her staff do a wonderful job!). This is not a place to go and live the high life, however, it is a calm, relaxing place that feels homey. The location is near the convention center with shopping and many restaurants and nightlife within walking distance.

Two good restaurants only a short walk (one is across the street and the other at the end of the driveway) are Chocko's and Tere (mostly known for the seafood) and Mexxtreme (Mexican food with entertainment). Both are reasonably priced. For breakfast and lunch, I recommend the palapa onsite at the hotel.

Loved everything about this hotel!

When I was looking at pictures of this hotel on Orbitz I was impressed but doubted it would be as nice as it "looked" in ... those photos. Boy was I wrong, everything was actually nicer than I saw online. First of all this isn't a 5 star hotel with marble floors and plasma TV's but, if you're a traveler like me who just needs a place to sleep and enjoy some quite time then this hotel is for you. I've been to Cancun 20+ times and usually stay at another hotel but that one became a swinger's hotel so I had to change. I met some very friendly people and I will definitely be going back to "The Clipper" when I return to Cancun in September '09. The location is great, right outside the property you have lots of convenient stores, restaurants, shopping, and killer clubs! Give this hotel a chance you will be hooked like I am. The pool is great and even though it isn't all-inclusive the food and drinks are cheap and don't mind if you bring in your own from the local store.

Fun Trip
Hakim's Wife-Mrs. Cunningham Jul 6, 2009
The location is excellent. We did not pay for all inclusive so we were able to eat a variety of different foods and for a ... cheaper cost than all inclusive. It located on the lagoon side but you have access to the beach. I personally like the lagoon side because it is tranquil and quiet. You are steps away from all the action. The rooms are not 5 star but they are very clean and have a great view. I was not pressured by the hotel to view a timeshare because I simply told them I do not have a credit card and I am only 18 (wink wink) We took advantage of all the free things that were offered and took the bus EVERYWHERE since it is cheaper. The taxis will negotiate if you know your stuff. Overall it was an awesome trip!

My wife and I went on our honeymoon in Cancun. The Clipper was an excellent location to go to the beach, hit the bars, go to ... shops, and was on the bus route to go anywhere else for like 75 pesos (about 5 bucks). We had a great time and will go back to the Clipper. It was nice and quiet, yet close to everything.

We spent lots of time at the beach just laying out, swimming, eating and drinking, and relaxing. It was like a Corona commercial. This is close to the Clipper (about 5 minutes walk). Lots of fun.

THE BEST HOTEL IN CANCUN
MOC!!!! Mar 11, 2009
I absolutely loved this hotel.I went for spring break from march 1 - march 5 2009, and most college dtudents stay at the ... oasis but it so far from all the night life. The Cancun Clipper Club is a minute from the beach , and right around the corner from all the clubs: Daddyo's, CONGO( THE BEST), Coco Bongo and sooooo much more. It's also 3 minutes walking from Senior Frogs which is a bar. resturant that you MUST visit while in Cancun. The hotel is beautiful , you have an amazing view from your rooms and the pool is clean and the hotels resturant is the best and cheap we got dinner for three and soft drinks for next to nothing, and they accept both dollars and pesos. They also have a travel agent inside the hotel who sells tickets for everything from swimming with dolphins to the wet and wild water park and he was sooo nice. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL. It's also in a very safe area and there is 24 hr security at the entrance of the hotel.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. We stayed only one night (we arrived on Sat., couldn't check into our timeshare ... until Sun.)My husband's legs were hanging off the bed. Thee shower pressure was so weak I couldn't rinse my hair. We met a few travelers staying there who loved it. The location is awesome if you're there for the bars and night-life. If the room is just a place to crash between parties it's great. I wouldn't recommend it for older couples like myself. The breakfast was excellent, and the grounds were beautifully kept.

Lisa Apr 20, 2008
This hotel had a great location in term of being close to shopping, attractions and restaurants. This was a good thing ... especially since the hotel resturant was not the greatest. It took a long time to even get waited on, let alone get your beverage, or heaven forbid, a refill, though at least oncd you got yoru food it was good. We were in Cancun to dive and were very pleased with the dive shop, Scuba Fred's, which was on site. The rooms were clean and well maintained. The staff was friendly and helpful. Free internet was also a plus!
