Bad choise of hotel
John Aug 6, 2009
We're surprised ORBITZ is accepting places like that one. Among other things such as noise at the pool until late, stained ... sticky carpet, a frig that screeched all night, etc., we had to ask more than once the receptionist to switch us rooms because a drain stoppage to a toilet next door had caused an overflow on sewage in our shower and it was impossible to be in the room all day. Even our clothes were smelly.

Santa Barbara trip
Bob & Dawn Jul 28, 2009
The view from street side balcony of the harbor was just terrific! The aged floor in the hotel was deteriorating to the ... point where every step was a squeak. The room was quite dated but clean. At check-in --- at almost midnight after a late flight--- was delayed because the clerk said, "I can't check you in for a while because the computers are updating." Huh? That was not what I wanted to hear after a long flight! The complimentary breakfast next door was pitiful: stale rolls, a banana, no juice, two kinds of kids cereal. Fortunately there are lots of really good restaurants in the area. But, I would probably at least consider the hotel again because of the location although there are a dozen others withn a few blocks that looked quite nice.

Best Western Beachside Inn
Ama Jul 19, 2009
We were with a group and it was a great place to hang together. The location cannot be beat. We got a great rate through ... Orbitz and best of all with two night minimums throughout all the hotels on the beach, we were able to book one night.

We were told the pool closed at 9pm and our room was right next to the pool. People were there until after midnight. We ... contacted the front desk and was told they would be leaving soon. We also were charged for parking when the site indicated that there was no charge for a hotel guest. The breakfast was a joke as well. We were instructed when we checked in to come and get a breakfast voucher for the restaurant next door. When my husband went to the front desk, there were no more certificates and that was at 7:30 am. This hotel is ridiculous and the management apparently non exsistant.

Kid Friendly Location
Carla B Jul 7, 2009
We were very satisfied with the hotel. Yes it was a bit noisy as the hotel is own a busy intersection, but it was also very ... convenient to the beach, the wharf, the park, and State Street. I'd actually rate the hotel 3.5. Only the noise kept me from rating it a 4.
Traveler type: Family
Had two kids (5 and 9) who enjoyed the walk along the beach from the hotel to the wharf where we stopped in at an aquarium (we even got a small discount after showing our Amtrak tickets). No need to drive a car around. Just take the local transportation, but plan to take you last trip by/before 6 pm, because the State and Cabrillo trolleys don't run after that time during the week.

Decent place with a friendly staff
Rudy L Jul 6, 2009
The staff was friendly and helpful. We were upgraded to a mini suite. Outside noise was a bit of a problem, but nothing that ... was unbearable. The rooms do not have air conditioning, but the ceiling fans helped keep things cool, though we had to keep the windows open to allow cooler air to come in. The continental breakfast consisted of cereal, toast, muffins, coffee, juice, and hard boiled eggs. Nothing too fancy, but still a nice way to start the day. The hotel is at the end of the block across from the beach, so comfortable walking shoes are a must have. All in all, good place at a decent price.

Everything was great about the hotel. The only thing I think they need to do is to upgrade the outside area. The room was ... big and roomy with comfortable beds. They had a little fridge and microwave which was great. A little balcony was a nice touch. The clerk was a little unfriendly. And that's what I didn't like about the hotel. Otherwise everything was good.

Quick Get Away
BILLIE Aug 6, 2007
The Best Western Beachside Inn was in a nice location. Within walking distance from different eaterys. The room was very ... comfortable although, the bathroom was quite small it was nice that the vanity area was outside of the bathroom itself. So some could take a shower while the other was fixing their hair or brushing their teeth. It was a bit small for more than one person at a time. The balcony view was nice you were able to see the people walking along the walkways. The traffic was slightly heard but if your really tired it might not bother you. Every once in a while you would hear a motorcyle or someone blasting their radio. The weather was great for an August visit.

A Pleasant Stay
Penelope May 28, 2007
I enjoyed my visit to Santa Barbara. The hotel was nicely furnished. Although it was not a business visit I was glad to see ... the desk and adjustable desk lamp with a plug for a computer. There were two places to set up our suitcases. The balcony provided a beautiful view of the wharf and ocean. From the front door we could see the sun set and the lights begin to come on in the foothills and mountains. The office staff were very friendly and helpful. We walked to nearby restaurants with views of well manicured lawns and flowers everywhere. We found that it was very quiet just a block off the main road by the harbor.I will recommend this hotel to my family and friends.
