A mix of surprises

I enjoyed the central location. I was able to walk to many places - train station, tram stop, McDonalds, a great Mexican ... restaurant across the street and of course the old city center. It was only a 10 minute taxi ride to the airport but keep in mind that was at 3am. I found the staff to be extremely friendly and most spoke fluent English. I also enjoyed the exercise room but was surprised to find it cost about $8 USD per visit. The indoor pool was nice and it was included with the room. The buffet breakfast had meat, eggs, cereal and plenty of fresh fruit and juice served in a nice dining area. I found my room to be small (single bed with desk and a small bathroom) but expected it. What I did not expect was to hear the water flowing through the pipes every time the toilet above me was flushed. I was on the 7th floor. I got used to the noise but my friend moved to another hotel because he thought it was too loud in his room. The only disappointment I had was the cleanliness of the room. The bathroom and hard surfaces in the bedroom were clean as were the sheets but the blankets and carpet were highly questionable. I expected better for a 4 star hotel. The hotel lobby had free wi fi and plenty of places to sit and use your laptop. I was told they had dial up Internet access in the rooms but I never looked for it. I would recommend calling the hotel and having them arrange a taxi to pick you up at the airport. I tried but the phone number listed in my itinerary had the wrong hotel phone number [...]. As a result I definitely overpaid for my taxi ride upon my arrival. Will I visit Odessa again - yes. Would I stay at this hotel again - yes.

Negotiate your taxi fair before you get in the taxi. It seems if they know you are a tourist the rates go way up.

Don't go to this hotel get an apartment

It was my first time coming to Ukraine during the Month of May. I have learned a lot from this trip alone. The moment I check ... into the hotel the room is rather small. No internet, tv with limited channels, a large queen size bed, small bathroom with shower and tub. The staff were somewhat unfriendly to me when I ask a question. Some don't speak english. The elevators wouldn't work at times and I was trapped in the elevator on a few occasions. The cleaning maid tried to charge me money because of a spill i made on the bed. This is a lousy hotel. If you want recommendations its better to stay at an apartment and cheaper to compared to any of the hotels in Odessa.
