Take the good with the bad

The pluses for Beach Quarters Resort were that the Staff was extraordinarily polite and helpful. The room was very clean. ... Great location for excellent restaurants. Within walking distance to Mahi Mahi's for the breakfast buffet and The Waterman (oceanfront) or Rockafellers (on Rudee Inlet) for dinner. The negatives were that during my visit the weekend was a rainy and chilly one so when you left the elevators to go to your room you were in a hallway outside in the cold and the wet. Our neighbors were NOT noisy but whenever they closed either their balcony door or their room door...it sounded like it was in OUR room and the floor, bed, etc. would shake. We had a King room and I loved the jacuzzi that was included but would have preferred that it be in a room to itself behind a closed door. Sitting out in the main room made it very hard for others to hear the tv while the tub was filling and/or the jets were running. The room with the toilet was extra small. My husband and I are averaged sized people and found the space very tight. The bathroon sink was the pedestal style and was located in a cubby area. There was no real space for my cosmetics, hair brush/comb, mousse, hairspray, toothbrush and paste, etc. other than a tiny shelf. A countertop would have been much more practical since I tend to travel with an entire drug store.

To get to a nice variety of stores for shopping (jewelery, art, clothing, etc.) will require that you go up around 19th or 20th Street. The fact that it's a nice brisk walk up there is not a issue. What is a problem is traveling back to your hotel with arms full of purchases. I bought a couple of oil paintings along with a few other smaller items and struggled to carry them all back to my 4th Street hotel. During the summer months you have the trolley that you can ride back but after the main season is over...you are on your own or you have to drive yourself and then hunt for a place to park.

Didn't stay long, but it was nice

Only stayed one night so didn't get to take advantage of the indoor pool and other features. When I went to fill up the ... jacuzzi in the room, the hot/cold was installed backwards. When I finally figured it out, it was very nice. Not much privacy inside the room and the toilet area is very small.

Great Location, Great View
~ Sommer Lea Apr 22, 2009
As we have never been to VA Beach, we were pleasantly surprised. The room was ACTUALY an ocean view. We fell asleep every ... night listening to the calming sounds of the waves lapping at the shore line. The staff was more than willing to help us in any way they could to make our stay more comfortable. As we were travelling with 4 surfboards, we did not fit into the parking garage. The staff offered to help us get the boards down in order to park. We were met everyday with friendly smiles and sincere questions on how we were enjoying our stay with the Beach Quarters Hotel. We were given great suggesttions on sites to see and places to dine. I would recommend the Hotel (and have already) to anyone looking to stay in Virginia Beach. ~Sommer Lea
