Bay mount Inn - Houstopn
guido Nov 5, 2009
Located right off Interstate 45 - therefore you'd expect some noise. I had never been to Houston before and was making ... reservations over the internet. We only stayed one night there, as we were on our way to Galveston to board A Canival Cruise Ship. When I was checking out, the desk-person said they could make arrangements to gete us to Galveston. The price quoted was substantially less than what I had contracted with another company. When I talked with someone from the Baymount over the phone, when making the reservation, I had asked about vehicular service from Houston to Galveston and they were not interested in supplying any information, at that time. There were roaches in the bathroom - I would not stay at that Motel again.

I want to start out saying that when I read the other reviews, I thought people were being too picky on their hotel stays. We ... got this room for $50 and I thought it was a steal being a three star hotel; but now I know why it was so cheap. We were looking for a good priced hotel half way between Austin and the Ren Fest so we can crash and not have to drive all night. So all we really wanted was a place to sleep. However, the place was horrible and sleep was the last thing we got. First going into the hotel, the parking was horrible and hard to get a spot. All the available parking near my room was handicapped and the nearest regular spot was 10 cars away. Going up to our room on the second floor, you could tell the wear and tear of the building was more then normal and seemed to be border line safety hazard. When we went in the room we thought we finally saw why the hotel would be deemed three stars. Everything seemed clean and orderly. We did notice that the "microfridge" and iron were missing from the room but it was no biggie; again just staying for the night. Upon turning down the bed, I found....hair woven into the sheets (not the kind from your head) and didn't think it was too big of a deal, so I just grabbed a tissue and picked them off, pushing one side of the sheets over. The bed itself was not very comfortable at all. It was WAY to unsupported, think air mattress that has gone flat. The bathroom was also a wreak. The shower was tiny and (finding this after I showered) had mold and mildew all over the place, and the hot water only lasted about 10 minutes. (The provided shampoo was Pantne Pro-V!!) This brings me to my final experience of the night, trying to sleep. I am a VERY heavy sleeper and pretty much nothing will keep me awake. But the noise level at this hotel was just beyond horrible (there was weather stripping that was missing from the door that could have contributed to the noise).

Driving in Houston is not for the faint of heart. Use of turn signals is taken as a sign of weakness. Traffic tie-ups on the freeways are VERY common so study and use alternate routes.

Good Value
BJ Aug 9, 2009
Good value for the money. Good breakfast with Texas-shaped belgian waffles, french toast, cereals and pastries. Coffee, milk ... & orange and apple juice were also provided as was fresh fruit. Lots of large families staying there. All the kids made breakfast somewhat of a challenge but that's certainly not the hotel's fault. I was puzzled by the large number of idling semis in the parking lot. I don't know why that would be.

Travel09 Aug 3, 2009
Got in late and area looked a little scary, but in daylight, it wasn't too bad. Had security in parking lot. There was dog ... poop on stairs and sidewalk for entire stay. Waffle batter dispenser was broken and you had to pick up whole large container to pour it. No sign on it, so one lady pulled dispenser off and batter went everywhere. Location was convenient to downtown. We selected this hotel because of its cost.

Management does not mind if you take yogurt, pastries, fruit or even your own waffle creations back to your room (I assume most people have a refrigerator and microwave). If you are on a budget, this covers breakfast and lunch.

If you want to go south, you must travel on the west side of the interstate. If you want to go north, you must travel on the east side of the interstate. There are a reasonable number of crossings that go under the interstate.

Complemantery breakfast is for sure the best, because you don't have to spend your money in any restaurants. That's one less meal you have to worry about and you save your money.
