This was our 2nd trip to the Bavaro Pricess. Our first trip was our beach wedding in 2007 which was amazing. Some of our ... family members planned a return trip because they enjoyed their stay so much, we decided to join them. This time we only stayed for 5 days so we did not do any excursions, but we definately had 5 days of relaxation. The beaches are prestine, and the staff are all so friendly. My husband and I also somehow got the same exact room that we had for our wedding trip, which was pretty amazing considering there are 900+ rooms on the resort. If the hotel set that up, then they really did go the extra mile! If you plan a trip to the Bavaro Princess be sure to stay "Platinum" as the 20 minute massage and dinner at the Licey are WELL worth the extra cost.

I would not consider this hotel to be a 4 star hotel as listed. It was OK if you had a platinum room (which were close to the ... beach and pool) because there were upgrades like top shelf drinks, a separate lounge area, and a snorkeling excursion. The service was very slow. We ordered room service one day that wasn't cleaned up for 24 hours. I'm usually not a picky eater but I wasn't impressed with the food. It was OK to bad. The wine with dinner was terrible. Most of the staff were friendly (tips help to make them more friendly) but they were slow to get things done. Our room key wasn't working one day and they gave us a new key to someone else's room twice before they fixed it. That didn't make me feel too comfortable knowing that they could've given someone else a key to our room. The room was OK. It could use some updating but that's not a big deal to me. The grounds were beautiful and well maintained. The beach was the best part of the resort. It was beautiful and the water was perfect. The pool was usually crowded and too warm but the beach was large, not crowded, and beautiful. I won't go back to the Bavaro Princess but I'd think about going back to the Dominican just for the beach. If you like nightlife, this is not the place for you. Most of the bars closed by 11. If you want a relaxing vacation or if you have kids, this hotel is probably OK.
