Check in was interesting. I was not satisfied with the original room and we were given a different room upon request. We ... learned that there are two management companies. Ours was at least a mile away. You will need a car for this location. The room and the bathroom were a good size. There is no maid service, but you can request additional towels (once you figure this out). Our room did not have an iron or iron board, but you can request that one be delivered. You can hear clearly what is going on in the next condo. We did not receive information about the amenities, ie. grill and pool. I was only able to ascertain this when I looked across the inter coastal from a restaurant at Barefoot Landing. Barefoot Landing is great for shopping and eating! You will enjoy yourself more if you have a car. Close to Tanger Outlet. Barefoot is at least a mile from the ocean

At first I was unsure because of some of the comments from other visitors rating but after talking with an employee of ... Barefoot Resort she told me that people think they are a hotel but they're a resort. Some of the apartments are personaly owned by family. Me and my family had a great time. Full kitchen and living room 3bds 3 baths located at the pool. It's perfect if you have a family. There's something for everybody!!!! We will return!!!!!! A's all the way.

BAREFOOT YACHT CLUB-NORTH MYRTLE BEACH
Darla Aug 17, 2009
I went to Myrtle Beach to see a concert at the Alabama Theater..and stayed at the Barefoot Yachet Club... the hotel is the ... perfect location... right behind the Alabama Theater...and a beautiful location...overlooking the Inter Coastal Waterway. I really enjoyed the hotel... location, size of room, view from balcony, etc... and would definitely stay there again. The thing I didn't like was that I had to go to 3 different locations before I found the correct one to register for check-in. More directions need to be given up front on where to go to check in...and exatly where the hotel is located. Having a checkin office on the hotel site would be great! The price of the room was most reasonable for the quality of the room. I will stay here again and have recommended it to friends.

Nice new resort. Great pool. Nice rooms, but could have been cleaned better. No room service, as this turned out to be a time ... share, not hotel. Had to wait until 5pm to check-in as room was not ready. Disappointing after a long drive, pretty much wasted the whole day. Had to call and ask for the pool passes, after the staff never mentioned them upon check-in. Had to go and pick them up from the check-in location, which is off the resort premises.

Love the stay on Barefoot Resort. The largers pool in the front is a saltwater pool, and all the others are not. You can swim in almost any of the other pools in the residention area. The deepest in the pool is only 5ft of water. The saltwater pool only goes to 4.5ft of water, and it has two small peninsula that goes out to the pool with water at 6inches. Which is great from all ages, including small children.

Mislead Consumer Aug 9, 2009
Orbitz showed a misleading picture of the hotel on their website. So beware!!!! , this picture is for the one that is not ... what is on sale. So you need to really be careful because you will end up with the one that is totally different for what they described, I got totally mislead.By the way the bed was not even made when we got in the room no bedsheet or anything we have to call them and wait and wait, we could not leave the same day because they will charge us for 1 night even if we stay or not. Very diappointed because we thought we got a great deal ( hotel room showed on website is for the Premium Barefoot Landing!!!! not for the sale one)So we end up leaving the next day and ended-up paying double for the ones that we originally saw on their website.

DO NOT STAY AT BAREFOOT
Unhappy Camper Aug 2, 2009
July 2009: Our initial request was made for a room that had a King Size Bed and a balcony overlooking the water at the ... Barefoot Yacht Club. Instead we were assigned a room on the golf course. It took two days to resolve this problem with Orbitz because the individual representing the Barefoot Yacht Club (Beach Vacations, LLC) would not provide any help at all and merely referred us to Orbitz Help Desk. We eventually received a confirmation from the Beach Vacations, LLC that we had a room with a king size bed and a balcony overlooking the water. Even at check-in the Beach Vacations representative said that they had save a room with a king size bed for us that overlooked the water. The following is a summary of the conditions of the room that was assigned to us by Beach Vacations: Barefoot Hotel Room #1, Building 2, Room 2601C: Assigned a room with no King Size Bed. Sink drain in the room clogged and water would not drain from the sink. Coffee Maker filter was broken; coffee could not be brewed. Several bathroom lights did not work. Telephone did not work. Room dirty; carpet stained, splatters on walls; bed linens and towels questionable. Room did not resemble the picture on Orbitz web site as provided by Beach Vacations. No room service provided. Three room maids observed walking between buildings, but never seen working. Trash laid in public hallway for days without being disposed of properly. Beach Vacations notified of the trash problem with little result. One day after we arrived, we returned to the Beach Vacations LLC (which is one half mile from the Hotel) and complained that the room was not what was originally requested, and there were many problems with the room. We were assigned another room. The room was referred to as an "Upgrade". However, this was the room that was advertised on Orbitz's web site and it was never reflected as an upgrade. The following is the second room we were assigned in another building: Barefoot Hotel Room #2, Building 3, Room 3204D: Room had a King Bed and a sitting area and did resemble the picture on the Orbitz web site. Carpets stained. Trash laid in public hallway for several days without being disposed of properly. Trash Room contained one large trash bag filled with trash and garbage, but the door was left open and the stench was very bad. This is a public health problem. Elevators also dirty. No room service provided. Beach Vacation personnel indicated this was another group responsible for room service. No trash removal, no vacuuming, no linen or towel changes occurred all week. Again, three room maids observed walking between buildings, but never seen working. From my discussions with both Orbitz's personnel and Beach Vacations personnel, it appears that Beach Vacations are the individuals who do not follow-through in room assignments, room cleaning, hotel public area cleaning. I found Orbitz personnel to be very helpful in trying to resolve early problems of the improper room assignment. Orbitz kept their word and followed through. On the other hand, I would not recommend staying at Beach Vacations lodging (Barefoot Yacht Club) based on the problems cited above.

Okay family getawy
Deidre/Football Mom Aug 1, 2009
The trip itself was grear but our resort...not so much. The kids loved Myrtle Beach. There were several attractions for the ... younger kids as well as plenty of shopping for my teenager. We went to the beach and rode up and down the strip, we went miniature golfing, swimming to the beach and to the Boardwalk on the Beach. Captain George seafood was recommended but highly overrated. Now the hotel (condo) was not so great. They gave us about 2 washcloths for a family of 5 a few towels one was dirty. There was not any cleaning products to clean the tubs or kitchen. There was not enough pots and pans and the place was not well kept. There was one pool across from our room and the other pool was down a ways. There was not fitness center. There were no special instructions, therefore we had to keep calling the front office to find out all the details. It was just average, but you get what you pay for. So for the price I guess it was okay. We did have to wash the linen before sleeping on it. We have stayed in nicer places. Myrtle Beach was great , but expensive. We would visit again but would not stay at this resort. The pictures are not at all like the place looks inside. My husband did not like the beach, it was pretty dirty. We are use to the pretty blue water in the caribbean and on the Gulf of Mexico, but the kids loved it and that's what mattered.
Traveler type: Family
I thought that Captain Georges was ok but if you have a large family with smaller kids its not worth it. It is 14.50 for children and 28.99 for adults. Make sure you have coupons for everything. It helps with the kids. Prestons all you can eat seafood offers a good deal. The location was great, it was only a short drive to the beach, attraction, the mall and the outlets.

Type of Facility vs pictures
A Carolina Traveler Jul 27, 2009
We stayed in the smallest building closest to the draw bridge. The room was nice & clean. The linens could have been ... nicer. We had two Queen beds but no refridgerator or microwave. The pool picture is correct. The balcony furniture is correct except it is plastic not marble like it looks in the picture. The picture shows a two bedroom with kitchen facility. We did not have that but looked into a four bedroom unit that was being cleaned after someone checked out and from the hall it looked very nice. The walk in closet was very nice. The view was of the Marnia. The room had a balcony looking on the back side of barefoot landing. We could see House of Blues and Maggie Moos from our balcony. You cross over a draw bridge via drive or walk to barefoot landing. You can not cross over the waterway any other way. The sliding glass door was very heavy and hard to open but kept the noise out. If I had a chance to do it again. I would ask to stay in the North Tower, the one closest to the pool and restaurant for convience purposes only. Finding the correct reservation company was the only bad part. We went to 4 different agencies based on our confirmation information. Make sure you get the correct company name and don't go by address on the confirmation slip. They said calling ahead could have saved us some hassel. This is a condo and there is no staff like you would see at hotel lobbies. You get the come and go as you want. They do not come in and clean the room daily. We were there Thursday to Sunday and had not cleaning service. Not sure if you would get cleaning service mid week of a weekly stay. That you would have to look into for yourself.
Traveler type: Family
Dining and shopping was just across the draw bridge. We walked to breakfast the first morning to a coffee shop. Please note Barefoot landing does not open up until 10 am. Nothing else is open except two coffee shops for a quick bite. Across from bare foot landing is cracker barrel in case you want something bigger. Plenty of shopping available at barefoot. Please keep in mind to check Myrtle Beach calendar of events. This week was Mustang week and the Myrtle Beach Mall was packed with Ford Mustangs. Made driving around a little hectic.

My experience at the hotel was great. However, when I went to check in, I was told that the rental agency didn't make it a ... practice to rent to "locals." I was surprised by that policy as no where was that mentioned when I made the reservation through Cheap Tickets. Though the rental agent was accommodating, the policy had the potential to make my rental experience very uncomfortable. It was the holiday weekend and finding other suitable arrangements would have been difficult. I sugguest that the "no locals" policy be plain and upfront. (Even though I think it's a dumb policy.)

This is certainly not 4 star. I would rate it perhaps as a 2 1/2. The room was not very clean. Scuff marks on the walls, ... furniture was damaged. Garbage was not picked up. The villa was very nice, in a good location, and nicely appointed. However, there was an on site pool that was not easily ... accessible. At the resort we were told that we needed id bracelets issued by the management company. They, in turn said that "corporate" hadn't provided them and directed us to a pool to which we had to drive, rather than the one located directly in front of our condo. Bummer
