I thought the hotel overall was very nice. It is very clean and set up well. It is in a great location, too. The service ... staff was very kind. My first disappointment was with the food. They didn't have that large of a selection, and some of the restaurants weren't open--at all. Other times it was hit or miss with the open restaurants, as some were open only certain hours, so I ended up eating at the same place for breakfast, lunch, and supper. Not that one is really there for the TV, but they didn't have a wide variety of channels. And even though it is Mexico, more English-speaking channels would've been nice. Also, in order to watch any movies, one has to call down to the front desk to get the code. They had trouble understanding me the first few times I asked. Finally, there was no sleep timer on the TV, so that sort of bummed me out. But all that is only if you really cared about the TV.

We stayed at the resort mostly. We enjoyed the activity pool. It got to be the slow season..low occupancy and they only had ... 1 restaurant open for dinner but they had a dinner buffet show. That was really great. The food was good. You don't really expect that for a buffet but nothing was tough. My beef goulash was like butter! A little disappointed
Vacationing Teacher Aug 12, 2009
We just returned from a trip to Cancun and stayed at the Barcelo. It was our 4th trip to Mexico and we were disppointed. ... First there wasn't a fitness center at all. We did find out that we coud go down to the Fiesta Americana and pay to use theirs for $5.00. That solved our problem but it was 1 and 1/2 miles down the strip. We also were not impressed with ANY of the food or restaurants. While it wasn't BAD nothing was very impressive. Pool areas were okay- overall everything was just average. We will return to Cancun but we son't stay there.

Dawn Jul 6, 2009
Four of us girls went June 20th. We had a great time..the staff was very friendly, especially our waiter jorge. The food in ... the sit down restaurants was very good. Breakfast buffet was very good and the lunch buffet was usual buffet style. We preferred the sit down restaurant for dinner. More than one pool definitly is better. And the beaches definitly are more washed away than last time I went to Cancun, obviously this isn't the hotel's fault. We went for a walk up and down the beach and realized our beach was one of the better ones. Some beaches had big boulders and we didn't. I would recomend this hotel!

Fantastic Vacation
Family from Illinois Jun 29, 2009
This was a great vacation for my family. The resort is in a great location lots of things to do within walking distance. The ... staff was very freindly. The two things we did not like about the resort was, the bar staff was very limited it took a long time to get a drink and the hallways to the rooms were very loud. You could here every door slamming in the night so we did not sleep very well. There also is not alot to do for older kids. You definatly want to get with a travel agent to book trips away for the hotel. I recomend swiming with the Dolphins and while you are there enjoy the water park. If you like to party, you have to go to Senor Frogs and Carlos and Charlies, they are in walking distance from the Party Zone. Take lots of cash for tips the more you give the better your drinks are. Also do not expect to check in early they will not let you.

I did not get to go to this hotel, which I did make a reservtion for, due to it being CLOSED for cleaning. Bate and switch ... might be a little strong for what happened but when the cleaning crew at this property knew how to shuffle me off to their other location in Cancun I felt the switch was planned. Then the employees at the other location where all aware that me and others were headed there way. And so as I was only in Cancun for a short stay my options were to accept the unapproved/unwanted changes. I hold CheapTickets accountable for this change as well. This location had been closed for cleaning for two weeks prior to my trip and CheapTickets still took reservations for it knowing it was unavailable. This to me brings into question CheapTickets customer care/service...or lack there of.

The hotel food was fresh, delicous and all inclusive. What else do you need? It's convinient to have an all inclusive trip. Because every morning when I woke up and had an appetite I was able to go to the restaurant in the hotel and eat a Mexican Breakfast.

OK Everyone talks about Coco Bongos and yes it is a must see but go prepared.1( You will stand on line to get in at least 30 mins or more the place opens at 10:30 more like 10:45 2) It costs between $50 and $60 PP depends on the day 3)When you get inside you are on a long winding line through a maze and check points 4) When you do get inside there are no seats except for a few reserved for private parties, stand on the second level to your right so you can see and lean on a table be prepared to beg the waiter and $20 for the priveledge of standing for the rest of the night, the waiters are rude and not happy but the shows are fantasic and well worth every cent around 2:30 the shows stop and there is dancing. And as par for the night scene, the drinks are all flavored water with no booze
