what a bargain Nov 18, 2009
I got what i paid for...bargain price, the room was older, could use some updating and i had a corner room and had adjoining ... doors on two sides and i could hear (clearly)the talking going on in the room next to mine and i even heard their alarm clock in the morning. I will not stay there again even with the bargain price.

Bally's Atlantic City - an ok hotel
Biz Traveler Man Oct 22, 2009
The hotel seemed old and and now keep up for what was rated as a 4 star site. The mid week rates where good but this ... hotel was not great for the business traveler. Internet access was poor and ran $12.99 for every 24 hours. Rooms did not have desks to work and I had a hard time finding the business center. I will look for somewhere else to stay next time.

Ballys Atlantic City: Centrally located
jmeyer Oct 19, 2009
Even though I requested a non-smoking room, I was put in a room with a strong smoke smell at first. After discussing this ... with hotel staff, they somewhat reluctantly put me in a different room, which was completely smoke free. This made my stay much more enjoyable. They have designated smoke and smoke-free areas at the casinos, but since they're not physically separated, it's still the same air, and I would have preferred a completely smoke-free section. The pool, sauna, steam room and tanning booth at the older part of the hotel (Claridge Tower) are free. They're clean and in good shape. The newer facilities in the other part are $10. Overall it was a pleasant experience. The hotel is centrally located in the middle of the boardwalk, which offers many food choices, ranging from take-out pizza to a few sit-down restaurants. The beach is easy to reach, and there are still plenty of things to do on a rainy day, since most of the casinos are connected by indoor walkways. There is also a nice Pier shopping mall with a must-see water show (every hour) nearby.

great location. the valet and check in went smooth. room was pretty spacious, except that it shared a door with the room next ... to ours. could hear people next door and little more, if you know what i mean:O if you've never been to ballys or any of its family casinos, you must sign up for the total rewards card so you can get free stuff like breadfast and parking. also, free shuttle buses to Harrahs, which is far away.

Terrible Hotel
Gamble Oct 17, 2009
We went there to have a good time and gamble. We booked 5 rooms and thought they'd be generous enough to give us nice rooms. ... We got the worst views ever. All 5 rooms had terrible views. Rooms were small and some smelled like cigarettes. Check-in took forever, slowest in my life. She made it as if she's making me a favor to check me in the hotel. No TOOTHPASTE!! Is this a 3 star hotel or a motel of the highway?

Hotel staff were friendly and I even left shirts there worth over $200. Bally's mailed them to me in 2 days. That was ... great. The rooms are ordinary and kind of small, but overall it was a great trip. The location is amazing. Right next to the Pier mall and 1 block from the outlets and 1 block from Rite Aid. 2 Blocks from a local liquor store, it was great! Location, Location, Location!

It was a very nice, spacious room. I was my first overnight in A.C. and i couldn't ask for more. The room service was quick ... and friendly. The staff was helpful and the kind man at the front desk took the extra time to find me a king instead of double beds. The casino was fun and the proximity to other attractions was a plus. The room was spotless and the bed was more comfortable than most hotels'. The in house restaurants were also reasonable. All and all it was a great stay and I would definitely repeat.

Wife of 10 Years Sep 21, 2009
Overall the hotel stay was decent. However, upon arrival there was no toilet paper in the bathroom. We called the front ... desk for some and no one ever came. We passed housekeeping in the hallway and instead of taking the toilet paper to our room, he handed a roll to my husband! Unfortunately, service was bad. On the second day we left our room at about 11:30 a.m. and returned at 4:00 p.m. to an unmade room. Housekeeping knocked at about 4:20 p.m. We just asked for fresh towels and a new box of tissue since we had run out waiting for toilet paper. At first glance the room was nice and modern, but WORN. The furniture had water stains, chipped wood and scratches. I even rotated one of the lamp shades, so we wouldn't have to look at the numerous stains. Most of the doors and mirrors had smudges, giving you the feeling that the room just wasn't as clean as it could have been. We had a coffee maker, but no coffee pot. The walls are THIN! We could hear a woman hacking up a lung next door most of the time. I would also be concerned about older people getting in and out of the bathtub. In their efforts to modernize the place and add tile, some would have great difficulty stepping into the shower. And yes there was hair on the floor from the previous guests. The nicest thing about the room was the plasma. Clearly, the focus is on the casino, not the guests. We probably could have overlooked some things, but we've gotten better service and attention at lower-end hotels. The food was also overpriced in the hotel. It was nothing more than glorified cafeteria food. My husband and I wished we had discovered some of the more popular restaurants in the area, right on the boardwalk, before eating at the hotel spots. The decore was nice, but they had simply slapped the "lipstick on the pig". We knew we were't going to order room service, the minute we stepped off the elevator onto our floor when we saw dishes from breakfast sitting outside of someone's room and we checked in at 5:45 p.m. This was our 10 year anniversary and again we made the best of it and I agonized over where to stay. We will always return to AC, but will not stay at Bally's again.

Went to AC to see a few shows over the labor day weekend. Was disappointed with the long check-in. I actually booked a Deluxe ... Room and was given a Classic and the key word is CLASSIC. The room was sub par and needs a major overhaul. Old and outdated, bathroom was way too small. I guess I expected a little more for the money. Unfortunately I do not think I will return to Bally's

Most all of the food in Atlantic City was absolutely disgusting and overpriced (and don't get me started on the service). Places to avoid eating include 1) The Bikini Beach Bar - on beach across from Bally's) the food and drinks are extremely overpriced and the food is stale, soggy and gross. 2) Trinity (inside Shops at Caesars)- again very overpriced, horribly loud music blasting and terrible food. 3) A D@mn Good Sports Bar (inside the Quarter at The Tropicana)- the food here is absolutely awful but they do have great drink specials which means if you're drunk you won't taste or remember the food as much! 4) Bill's Gyro- we went here for the 24 hour breakfast- the waitress was rude, all the food was greasy and the eggs tasted like Gyros. Some places that were decent to eat at were 1) The 6ix Bistro in Bally's - the $7.77 Steak and Eggs was good quality and a great deal. 2) Wolfgang Puck in The Borgata- Despite having to send back an undercooked chicken breast that my boyfriend probably got Salmonella from, this was the best meal we had in Atlantic City. 3) The Deck at The Trump Marina- This place was right on the harbor and had a reasonably priced selection of seafood that was decent.
