The hotel was great. Very nice room (we were upgraded to a Suite at no charge) and a great location (just off the ... Magnificant Mile). Only complaint was that the air conditioner was sensored and only turned on if you were in the room. Great idea, except when you've been walking around downtown Chicago in close to 90 degree weather, then have to wait a half hour or more for your room to cool down.

We were there for a "stay-cation" and the staff had a terrible attitude, not welcoming at all. When I checked in, no one ... welcomed me, and they do not smile or thank you for your business. The hotel itself was fine...trendy, nothing special. They have free parking for hybrid vehicles, and did not mention this to us (we drive a Prius). [...] I can't handle bad customer service...it put a damper on our relaxing weekend.

Arrived at the hotel around 1pm, they let us check even though were early. Check-in was fast and painless. Our room was a ... corner king suite on the 36th floor, we were high enough to be above the city noise. Great views of Michigan Avenue and the city, windows to the south and west, lots of natural light. Room was very spacious for the city, we could easily stay here with our daughter, lots of space, 2 closets. Doors fully separate the living area from the bedroom as well, which was nice, a true suite, no half walls here. Bathroom was small but adequate and looked to be recently remodeled. The shower head was very high, which we greatly appreciated, no stooping. 2 tvs, in the bedroom and the living area. Seating in the living area for 4, plus a desk and coffee area. There was a stocked min bar as well. Location was fantastic, 1 block off Michigan, right in the middle of the mag mile, tons of shopping and dining options.

The avenue is a great hotel, would recommend to anyone love the location and the establishment connected to it the elephant ... and castle is a great place. The staff was very nice and helpful. Plenty of great restarants and shopping within a short walk.

The staff were the best! there to help out in any way! We went shopping and everything was in walking distance. Have to do ... the horse & buggy ride awesome to see all the old buildings. Very clean I was very impressed!! The Piano Bar was the BEST!! the only thing I didn't care for when out walking was the homeless people begging for money, reminded me of New York.

This hotel was in a great location not 1 block off Michigan ave and the magnificant mile. We stayed on the 38th floor and had ... a wonderfull sweeping view of downtown and the sears tower! And if you enjoy the view from your room then you will really enjoy the view from the roof top pool. All in all a great place to stay in a super locaion with a super staff!

This was a great hotel for the price, we got a great deal from Orbitz for Labor Day weekend. The room was very clean and ... comfortable. We had a small leak from the bottom of the toilet, they had it fixed when we got back from sightseeing. Staff was very friendly. We requested them to get us a cab very early in the a.m., and it was waiting for us when we came down. It was a bit noisy in the hallway, but I think we were near a facilities closet or something. Great location, just a block off of Michigan Ave. Didn't use the pool on the rooftop, but it looked very clean. Wished they had a hot tub. Otherwise great experience, would recommend.

It was a wonderful location. We choose this hotel not only for the price through orbitz, but also because of the excellent ... placement of the building itself. It is right on Michigan St., giving a wonderful selection of stores to browse. It's five mintutes walking-distance away from both Pizzeria Uno's(best deep dish pizza in Chicago) and the John Hancock tower. We first went to Uno's at about 9 and then walked to the tower to see the Chicago skyline at night(with the Sears tower, a view you can't get from the Sears tower). The view was incredible and really romantic. For those who know their Chicago geography, right next to the Hancock Tower is Water tower place. Though we didn't go there, because we were too busy with every other attraction like Dick's Last Resort, a very affordably entertaining resturant on the Chicago River with live music and great food. Walking is a great mode of Transportation through Chicago, but I would suggest the bus for ventures longer than one mile. Trips by foot can get pretty extensive unless it's done in the right amount. A taxi - I suggest - should be left for last resorts(like to and from the hotel to airport or Union Station). Or, at the very least, split the distance by walking a portion before calling a cab. That'll keep the prices farther down. Nearly every block you walk will make the taxi just that much cheaper. Also, try to hail a cab that's already going in the right direction of your destination, as turning around costs more money. The Hotel itself has spacious rooms and good access to Chicago. Well reccommended by this couple of romantics:)
