Atlantis has recently added new water attractions and are renovating older attractions. The new attractions are top notch ... and fun for the whole family. This is not the place for a budget minded visitor. Everything has an extremely high price however the service and food is very good.

We were upgraded to the Royal Towers and had an exquisite view and lovely room. The place is huge and there were no maps in ... the room. Some of the staff were very unfriendly, especially to children. Other staff members were very nice. We found the food to be very pricey. The water in the hotel room was horrible and we had to constantly buy water which was also very expensive. It was a fun vacation. A little too long for me. It reminded me of a cruise in many ways but with a cruise you have different islands and places to visit. It took us days to see everything but basically it's a giant water park experience.

If you're shopping. Take the ferry off the island and go downtown. (You'll have to ask someone how to find the ferry). To get from one place to another it requires a pretty long walk and sometimes the attraction is difficult to find.

A Lot to Do in So Little Time!

MissMacofChi Oct 31, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

My boyfriend and I came on the Love, Atlantis Style package and it was worth it for the Dolphin Encounter alone! It was ... secluded enough that it seemed really special and the staff were always willing to help you. There was always something to do and something new to see when we walked around the premise. I liked how they had a club, a casino, a theatre playing hollywood movies, a comedy club and more to keep you busy after the pools closed at 6:00pm. The closing time was odd to me considering that this is a resort based around water, maybe it would have been too much, but how about closing later? There are a lot of food options, but of course EVERYTHING is expensive. If you booked your vacation on a budget, make sure to account for spending AT LEAST $25 per person on a CHEAP meal and that's not even including drinks.

Before you go to Atlantis you should stop a local convenient store and get everything there. I made the mistake of not doing it because I didn't feel like carrying more things. A 1.5 liter bottle of water is $5.75 at the Atlantis and don't even think about the snacks in the mini bar haha! Just get a gallon of water and some chips or something. Also, instead of taking a taxi to Atlantis, take the $3.00 ferry behind the straw market. So worth it!

The hotel and staff was great. The gounds/pools/marine life was a real shocker. I came for the beach and ended up using all ... the attractions. I liked the way the island was closed to guests only, so security was a real plus. The food was expensive but good and in good supply. oh and if your going to go down the aztec slide, make sure your wife doesn't have the camera on recording you screaming like a little girl coming down!

Atlantis Review

Disapointed Visitor Oct 6, 2009

My husband and I traveled to Atlantis for a wedding. We were absolutely blown away by the prices. A small bag of chips $7! ... Even though we had traveled to the Bahamas we ended up eatting at a Quiznos sub shop because it was all that we could afford! How dissapointing! We were not expecting prices to be so unreasonable. I do not recomend traveling to this location unless you bring at least several hundred dollars for food alone. If you decided that the trip is worth it to you, I would recomend you bring snack foods to fill you up in between the price and skippy meals. We did enjoy the water park; however one of the pools was closed the entire weekend we were there for a commercial filming. How ironic as we found the whole resort to be highly commercialized. While the hotel workers were friendly and helpful, they seemed very overworked and burdened. We felt extremely guilty as it was painfully obvious that the money tourists spend definately does not go to the workers who were just demoralized. Although we had reserved the Beach Towers, the bride upgraded everyone to the Royal Towers. We were so greatful she did this. Although we were dissapointed in the size of the rooms, we couldn't imagine how less attrative and comfortable the Beach Towers would have been. For the money, I believe that we could have stayed in the states and enjoyed a more genuine laid back vacation destination at a more resonable price. We will not be returning.

Upgraded to Royal Towers

Dave Sep 8, 2009

We were upgraded to in the Royal Towers however, one of the rooms had visible mold spores and smelled very badly. We asked ... for the room to changed and the hotel staff refused saying that they were all booked. They sprayed the room to cover up the smell but staying in the room that evening was "unbearable." Our family members staying in the room became sick from the smell that evening. After an hour of pleading the next day, they "found" another room for our party to stay-in. Nevertheless, the damage had been done. Our vacation was essentially ruined. The hotel should shut down room "10578" in the Royal tower until it is safe healthwise. It is absolutely disgraceful that they knowingly rented that room and forced guests to stay there. That coupled with their unsympathethic attitude makes our future choice very clear. We will never again stay at Atlantis

Nice resort without much of a caribbean

Beach Traveller Sep 4, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

It's a great family resort with exciting water rides, a fabulous collection of marine life, and a beautiful beach. The ... drawback is that if you don't go outside of the resort, you don't get much of feeling that you're in the Bahamas. The hotel is interesting but has a Vegas quality with $10 hot dogs or hamburgers for lunch. If you don't buy a meal plan, you'll have a similar selection for dinner but more expensive.

There's a small mall across the street - go there to stock up on water (half the price of what you'll be pay in the room) and sunscreen, if needed. Sunscreen is very expensive and tends to run in lower SPF, bring extra with you!

Great Hotel, Atlantis is for everybody!!

race Aug 31, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

words can not describe this hotel, it is truley amazing! they have everything you could possibly want. The pools are awsome ... as well as the aquarium and the beach. I didnt gamble in the casino but did walk through it several times and it was just like Vegas. I bought the cheap dining plan and still had 15 places to choose from for breakfast and dinner. I have traveled to alot of places and I would say that Atlantis is on my top 5. One drawback is that Atlantis will nickle and dime you for everything. bottle water is $7 and a can of coke is $5 even people magazine was $12 and ciggerettes were $6 and suntan lotion was $28-44, they basicaly mark everything up 400-500% so take everything you will need and buy your alcohol across the street.

If you choose to go to ATLANTIS and happen to be on a budget, Do NOT open the mini bar!! Get a cab and go into town and buy snacks and drinks and magazines if apply. Atlantis marks everything up 400-500%. People magazine cost $12 and SPF 30 cost $48. Buy the dining plans that are available, however you will be responsible for paying the 15% gratuity out of pocket.

Money savers hint, Short Walk

Eat "off campus". A short walk to the nearby restaurants and tee shirt places mmay save you some money.

Shopping hint, Long Walk

If you're shopping. Take the ferry off the island and go downtown. (You'll have to ask someone how to find the ferry). To get from one place to another it requires a pretty long walk and sometimes the attraction is difficult to find.

Dining hint, Long Walk

The hotel grounds are massive, it took the whole trip before we really got familiar with the facility, if you are going take pop, snacks booze anything you can in because they are so overpriced there. The dinner buffets are not remotely worth the $55 a person they charge

--rthorn, Oshawa Ontario Canada Oct 19, 2009

Recreation/Attractions hint, Short Drive

Stuart Covve Scuba diving is a must see attraction

--Erik, Centralia, Il Oct 9, 2009

Money savers hint

Bring snacks with you in your suitcase. The food in Atlantis is very expensive.

--Disapointed Visitor, Charlotte, NC Oct 6, 2009

Money savers hint, Short Drive

Dont eat at the Atlantis very very expensive.

--Bella Yella, New York, NY Sep 16, 2009

Many food choices from a small market to hamburger place to really upscale restaurants. You can even find a Starbucks!

--Grandma T., Newport Beach, Ca. Sep 16, 2009

Money savers hint, Long Walk

everything is very very expensive. if i want to go one place to another, i have to walk a lot. Night life is not good as united states which i mean no entertainment, some shopping is close early, not much resturant.

Dining hint

To help keep dining costs low, go to the Marina Village and eat at the casual restaurants there. 1/2 the price of the buffet and other fancier restaurants in the resort. Its a short 5 minute walk.

--Carribean Traveler, Pittsburgh, PA Aug 20, 2009

Dining hint, Short Walk

Find Antonio's (cheap and excellent quality) and Blue Lagoon in Club Land Or' (gourmet - place is empty most of the time) just outside of hotel gates.

--BeachBum, Wisconsin Aug 20, 2009

Dining hint, In Hotel

Buy snacks outside at market. Make sure you pack all your needs. Everything from water to chips cost a small fortune

--Shelly, Forest Hill,Md Aug 19, 2009

--Jennifer, Brooklyn, NY Aug 18, 2009

Dining hint, In Hotel

There are a lot of options for dining in the hotel, but we found the harbor village section to have more moderate prices and options.

--Stephen, Boston Ma Aug 17, 2009

Dining hint, Short Walk

Dining is very expensive check the hotel services book for pricing. Go to the Marina area for less expensive delicious food. Murray's deli, Pizzeria, Johnny Rockets to name a few. Town closes at 5pm so do not plan on going downtown in the evening.

water slides are awesome as well as The Dig.

--traveler, San Jose, CA Aug 12, 2009

I recommend staying at cove or towers, they are closer walk to pools and water attractions.
