A tropical sunlit retreat on 28 lush acres - this low-rise hotel with Polynesian charm offers a wonderful atmosphere of old Hawaii. Spacious air-conditioned guest rooms with garden or ocean views. We feature an outdoor pool in the shape of Maui and the oldest coconut grove on the island. This resort is ideal for romantic getaways and group vacations. Free parking available.
Aston Maui Lu has just completed an enhancement to their walkways, reception and pool areas. The Maui-shaped swimming pool underwent a number of upgrades including the resurfacing of the pool interior and the deck. In addition, new pool furniture, picnic areas and barbecue grills were added for guests convenience and comfort. Finishing touches were made to the oceanfront rooms. Earlier this year, brand new carpet, furniture and drapes were added to each of the oceanfront rooms. To cap off the upgrades, the building exteriors and walkways were repainted and brand new lanai furniture was added for guests to relax as they take in the magnificent south Maui coast.
Guests can now enjoy the brand new "Maui Polynesia Sunset Show" every Friday. Guests enjoy a charming evening under the stars with all‐you can eat pupus (appetizers) and an exciting journey through Polynesia with the dances of Hawaii, Tahiti, Samoa, Aotearoa and a spellbinding five‐man fire dance unlike any other on Maui.

You might want to consider going grocery shopping so you can cook at your hotel room or wherever it is that you're staying due to the high cost of dinning out. It is quite expensive in Maui and you would definetly save alot of money if you prepare your own meals and then bring them with you on your trips within the island.

Going @ Maui to Sleep or Have Fun?
The Honeymooners Aug 10, 2009
Spent our honeymoon here in July 08. Our room was just steps from the ocean. What an incrdeible view. The room was about 2 ... star at best, but once again the view made it all worth the while. The cove was absolutely breath taking at sunset. If you are going to Maui to stay in your room all day do not come to the Aston. However, if you are on a budget and want great views and a nice place to relax after your all day explorations of the Island them the Aston Maui is the place to be. It was ghetto fabulous. Oh yah, Kihei has lots of great places to eat.

Maui is great, but Hotel not so great!
The C Bunch Jul 25, 2009
When we arrived at the hotel they were doing a lot of remodeling so there ws a lot of things closed at the hotel. We were ask ... if we wanted a newly remodeled room and we said yes, paying the extra fee,but the rooms we got did not seemed newly remodeled. We stayed anyway. We were told to get breakfast the next morning, but when we went they told us there was none. We even got a flier telling us to come for breakfast when we checked in. Other then that we enjoyed Maui!

The hotel was good. We reserved an ocean view room. At first, we noticed that the pool was not in service ( that was the main ... reason why i had booked this hotel!) and so i let the staff know about this and they quickly offered to upgrade our room at no cost, and that's when we got a spectacular room right in front of the ocean. literally! It was clean, we did have a couple of visitors at night( small lizards) but it wasn't overtly infested like other comments i had read on this hotel prior to making reservations. i think they were very helpful and accommodating and would definitely recommend it to anyone. Plus, the location is great because if you drive just a few minutes into Kihei, you will find anything from a Safeway grocery store to taco bell. Its conveniently near small commercial centers and bars in case you would like to go out for drinks at night. We liked it very much and would definitely stay here again.

Centrally located budget option
Verona Jul 13, 2009
The hotel was OK for a budget option. Kihei is a nice location for those who are planning on traveling all over the island, ... with fairly easy access to everywhere from Ka'anapali to Haleakala. The rooms are dark, even with the curtains open during the day, and look due for a renovation. There also appear to be a number of unoccupied/unmaintained buildings on the property. The in-wall air conditioner was noisy when the compressor kicked in throughout the night. Wi-fi was only available at the front desk, but was free. There are a couple of "private" coves on the property which are nice for lounging when they're not occupied by locals fishing. Aston also gives a coupon book to guests which saved us at least $50 throughout the trip. Overall, I would recommend this hotel to budget-conscious travelers who aren't looking for all the amenities of a resort.

This location was good maybe because it was the low season when I was there. There werent a lot of guests especially ocean ... fron like my rental. The matresses are firm, pillow are flat but maybe some people like it. The grounds were clean, parking is difficult at the ocean front rentals because of limited space. Not noisy, I would call the decor 1970's ish, could use updating.

After seeing the gardenview room assigned to me, I elected to upgrade to an oceanview room which I hoped would be better. I ... was wrong. After sitting on the bed of my first oceanview room and feeling the springs in the mattress I asked for a different room, there was no way I could sleep on this bed. My second oceanview room had a bed that was not much better than the first but it was becoming obvious that all the beds were similarly beyond their good years. Both rooms so far had two double beds and both beds in the previous room had springs in the mattress that would not support my weight of 180 lbs. This room had atleast one bed that was slightly better than the other. I opted to take this room. After a night of trying to get comfortable on a bed that was beyond it's better years, I got up and tried to have a shower. The shower worked fine but the drain just would not work. I gave up trying to get the drain to work and asked for a different room. I was now onto room number 4, oceanview room number 3, after one night on a similar bed as the others, I woke up with multiple bites on my arm and shoulder. This room also had two double beds but because of the location of the other bed directly below wooden beams of the ceiling, it was covered with what I thought was sand, only to be told by the cleaning staff that the wooden beams were termite infested and what I thought was sand was infact wood debris. I decided that I had had enough of changing rooms, so I removed all the bedding and asked the cleaning staff to replace them because of the multiple bites. The following morning the second bed was again covered with wood debris. I was told by the same cleaning staff member that she had found an ants nest below the bed which she thinks may have caused the bites. For the rest of my stay I tried to spend the least amount of time in the bed. I guess the best thing I can say about my stay is that the management elected not to charge me the additional amount for the oceanview upgrade and they were willing to move me to a different room after each incident.

The hotel does not have direct access to beach. The beach is across the road and hotel does not provide any chairs or towels ... on the beach. On our 2nd night after we returned to the hotel we found almost 10-15 cockroaches on our bed. The hotel staff immediately sifted us to different rooms. We had 3 rooms and misplaced one key during move. For next 2 days we were in Hana and hotel did not accept the key back after our return. We were still charged $25 as per their policy

Old Hawaiian Charm
The honeymooners from Sacramento May 9, 2009
We had a room right on the ocean #506 (building 5) And we really liked it. Room was serviced everyday with clean NEW towels. ... Staff is very nice. We had a fridge in our room so we can goto the local Safeway to buy our lunches (sandwiches etc.)to take to the beach. This resort is of old charm and dose need a little up grading however we understand its up for sale asis. The staff brought us a propane BBQ to use at no charge. We did have a friendly Gecko show up in our room x2 out of the 10 days we were there no biggy he was more scared than i was lol. good water pressure, great location to everything, perfect sunset, great for the price if you stay in the ocean front rooms. Beds and pillows were very comfortable with nice sheets. AC worked very well. Not bad for young honeymoon couples that want to spend more money on other things. Cant wait to go back! :)

Early bird breakfast for 5.95 at the Big Wave Cafe and other near by places. Big portions for 8.00 at the Kehei Cafe. Longs and Walmart are the cheapest places to shop for snacks. AVOID ABC stores they are expensive! Ciggs are 8.00 a pack everywhere! Gas is 2.79 not to bad. The office has lots of boogie boards and floaties and chairs that other visitors left behind to use. no need to buy any of that stuff.
