I wanted something relaxing which is exactly what I got- great pool, beautiful beach and most of the staff was really nice. ... The restaurant at the hotel was nice, right on the beach, everyone there was very friendly. It's definitely more than a block's walk to anything else, we didn't rent a car since we wanted a chill vacation but we ate at our hotel for every meal but one since we didn't want long walks to dinner every night. But for what we wanted, the place was fine, nothing too fancy but def not shabby.

Maybe do a little research beforehand on place to eat, some streets were a little sketchy at night, I wish I'd checked out more places to eat in all the neighborhood hotels.

This is a wonderful hotel. Great location, great beach and easy access from your room to the ocean. No cold hallways or ... waiting for elevators in wet swim suites. Very clean and just enough ammenities to make your stay comfortable. Not too many bells and whistles but the necessary. The restaurant at the beach needs help, but o.k. I will definitely return and stay here. The 1bedroom suite is the way to go. Huge apartment like with very big terraces.

Great hotel and location for the price
Fla Oct 1, 2009
This was our first time in Cancun, and I picked this hotel bc of the price, location and reviews. Very friendly staff, clean, ... close to shoppings and bars. There were 2 things me and my friend didn't like: we stay without water, in a saturday evening for 2 hours, and we asked for 2 more towels, and it took more than 30 min for them to bring them up to the room. Other than that we loved it. If you are looking for a calm place to rest, this is the place, also, add breakfast in your reservation.

I was shown to my room. Not very fancy but adequate but the air conditioning did not work. After 30 minutes of maintenance ... calls and two other calls requesting a new room the staff finally moved me to a suite. It was very nice. King Size bed, living room, microwave, refrigerator, stove, silverware, plates and dishes. There were two TV's, nice bathroom and shower. Very nice.

Watch the exchange rate on the money. They want American money, they will take a dollar or a peso but if you give a dollar they will not return chane in american money. Some people said it is better to use a Visa card and then the bank does the exchange but no commission is taken.

Ambaince Villas was FANTASTIC
Kay Aug 2, 2009
This was the best trip I have ever taken. The 3 br. suite we had was like a house. There was one entrance door, ground ... level, from outside that led to a hallway with three rooms off of that; one was the "suite" with the full kitchen, living room and master bedroom(king) bath combination off of it, the other doors each led to another bedroom, one with two double beds and one with another queen bed. In the Queen bedroom, there was a mini fridge, sink and micro wave, plus each had its own bathroom and tv. My kids, all teenagers, were in heaven. And there was a sofa sleeper in the living room which was nice fo the kids to crash on while watching tv == there was cable with american tv on it. The breakfast buffet was great with fruit, omelettes, cereal, pretty much everything you 'd want. We ate that nearly every day and it was included for six of us with the suite. The seaside restaurant was lovely, right on the beach. The kids liked seeing iguanas and crabs walking around nearby! There were bananas and coconuts growing in the gardenlike setting. Someone was always working around the grounds either fixing up the grass and flowers or sweeping, or skimming the pool ( the pool was awesome and never crowded.) and now for the best thing ==- the beach. It was the best beach I have ever swam in. Shallow for a long long way out, warm, light waves. Would be great for little kids but adults too. I just like to float and relax. It was super clean everywhere at the ambiance. The maids were excellent. Most do not really speak english but they will ask someone if they do not understand. I do not really like to be ultra pampered and we did not sit around wanting to be waited on hand and foot, so I cannot comment on that aspect. I think if you wanted that you could get it; they did have a beauty shop and massages if you wanted that for an extra charge, and a nice looking work out room. I think the place is condos too but no one ever approached us with any kind of sales pitch. You can exchange dollars for pesos at the desk and also there is a little market in the lobby with bottled water an soda and light groceries as well as a few souvenirs. It closes kind of early though. A bus stop right out front made it easy to get anywhere you want to go. You get the hang of it after a time or two and it costs just 50 cents. The traffic is kind of bad at night and it makes crossing the street kind of hard, so a few times we chickened out and took a taxi. Four can ride one way for 8 dollars pretty much anywhere on the hotel strip. But the busses are cheaper, clean and kind of fun in the daytime. A ferry boat a little ways down takes you for the day to Isla Mujeres. A worthwile trip that you can do on your own. For $35 you can rend a golf cart and drive all around the island. I have to say the beach right at the hotel was nicer than the Punta Norte on Isla, but there is a spot with a beautiful view on the south end with rocky cliffs and a small mayan ruins that should not be missed ( this is Point Garrafon on Isla Mujeres). All in all, I loved the Ambiance Villas and would love to go back there someday. I would highly recommend it to anyone. Here is one point I might make: if you are looking for a wild party atmosphere, this is NOT the place. It is family oriented more so, which was perfect for us. I think honeymooners would also like it and couples who wanted a quieter experience. If you want to party-hearty look somewhere else. For us, it was perfect. Maybe I shouldn't say so because it will let the secret out. I would also say it was reasonably priced for all you got. The room was very large and spacious, not fancy maybe but I found it to be just right. I also thought the beds were comfy. some have commented that they were hard matresses; I was probably so worn out from all the things we did all day that I did not notice and went straight to sleep. We also had no problems with any food or water and did not drink bottled all ...

This hotel was in a great location and most importantly had a beautiful beach. I enjoyed my stay at this hotel because of the ... great location to the clubs and shopping centers... all within walking distance. The only thing that would have made my stay at this hotel more enjoyable was if they would have allowed some friends of mine to come visit me in the room.. there is a strict policy of no visitors over. Superior value for the money
Tom and Marianne May 2, 2009
Ambiance Villas was a perfect place to relax. Since we rented a car we could escape the craziness that is a Cancun trademark. ... We had a ground floor room facing the beach. At first we were offered a suite with "garden view", but the garden consisted of two bushes and the parking lot. Staff found us a much better one. The suite was extremely comfortable with a well equipped kitchen (although we bought ourselves a sharp knife) nice 2-part bathroom and the terrace had doors opening from each room. Two TVs, but no clock radio. WiFi internet access and also two computers you could rent for 1 peso a minute in increments of 20 or 50 minutes. The landscaping was superb and the fact that the hotel only had three floors made it a much better choice than the other huge hotels. The little supermarket two blocks away was great. The pool was large and spotless and we spent lazy afternoons under the palm trees. We didn't use the gym, but did a load of laundry at the hotel (they sell tokens and detergent at the reception) The beach was also great, but the sand is a little hard to walk in--very, very fine and you will definitely strengthen your calf muscles. We always found lounge chairs under the palapas. The little restaurant on the beach was quite adequate, the food we ate was great and the waiters very friendly. The sunset over the water was stunning. We took advantage of the free breakfast and it had everything you could ever want. We drove through Cancun city and it was a mess so we avoided it, but drove the beach road when we travelled south. We visited Puerto Morelos, Tulum and Coba and took the ferry to Isla Mujeres one day where we rented a golfcart, visited the Hotel Garafalo where you can stay on the beach, use the showers etc, for 70 pesos each. Beautiful fish! The Tulum/Coba trip was overnight and we stayed in a Club Med hotel near the ruins. We drove into Playa Del Carmen and we recommend you avoid it--very touristy and the only good thing was finding a Mega supermarket where we stocked up on fruits of all kinds, wine, cheese and excellent bread. The worst part of driving was not the traffic on the highway, but all the crazy speed bumps or "topes". I shopped for gifts at the Fiesta Mexico outlet near the hotel.

We went to Cancun to relax and enjoy the weather and the beach. For us, Ambiance Villas was a good choice. The room was ... spacious and equipped with a kitchen that included flatware, utensils, toaster, and blender. The beach was very nice and there were many available lounge chairs and palapas. A number of shops and restaurants were within easy walking distance of the hotel. There was a handy bus stop located just in front of the hotel. The staff was friendly and accomodating. If you're seeking a newer, 5 Star property, Ambiance Villas is not for you. It is a smaller, older property with all of the basic amenities necessary for a relaxing vacation.
Traveler type: Couples
