This hotel was in a great location and most importantly had a beautiful beach. I enjoyed my stay at this hotel because of the ... great location to the clubs and shopping centers... all within walking distance. The only thing that would have made my stay at this hotel more enjoyable was if they would have allowed some friends of mine to come visit me in the room.. there is a strict policy of no visitors over. Superior value for the money
Tom and Marianne May 2, 2009
Ambiance Villas was a perfect place to relax. Since we rented a car we could escape the craziness that is a Cancun trademark. ... We had a ground floor room facing the beach. At first we were offered a suite with "garden view", but the garden consisted of two bushes and the parking lot. Staff found us a much better one. The suite was extremely comfortable with a well equipped kitchen (although we bought ourselves a sharp knife) nice 2-part bathroom and the terrace had doors opening from each room. Two TVs, but no clock radio. WiFi internet access and also two computers you could rent for 1 peso a minute in increments of 20 or 50 minutes. The landscaping was superb and the fact that the hotel only had three floors made it a much better choice than the other huge hotels. The little supermarket two blocks away was great. The pool was large and spotless and we spent lazy afternoons under the palm trees. We didn't use the gym, but did a load of laundry at the hotel (they sell tokens and detergent at the reception) The beach was also great, but the sand is a little hard to walk in--very, very fine and you will definitely strengthen your calf muscles. We always found lounge chairs under the palapas. The little restaurant on the beach was quite adequate, the food we ate was great and the waiters very friendly. The sunset over the water was stunning. We took advantage of the free breakfast and it had everything you could ever want. We drove through Cancun city and it was a mess so we avoided it, but drove the beach road when we travelled south. We visited Puerto Morelos, Tulum and Coba and took the ferry to Isla Mujeres one day where we rented a golfcart, visited the Hotel Garafalo where you can stay on the beach, use the showers etc, for 70 pesos each. Beautiful fish! The Tulum/Coba trip was overnight and we stayed in a Club Med hotel near the ruins. We drove into Playa Del Carmen and we recommend you avoid it--very touristy and the only good thing was finding a Mega supermarket where we stocked up on fruits of all kinds, wine, cheese and excellent bread. The worst part of driving was not the traffic on the highway, but all the crazy speed bumps or "topes". I shopped for gifts at the Fiesta Mexico outlet near the hotel.

Clean, basic property

We went to Cancun to relax and enjoy the weather and the beach. For us, Ambiance Villas was a good choice. The room was ... spacious and equipped with a kitchen that included flatware, utensils, toaster, and blender. The beach was very nice and there were many available lounge chairs and palapas. A number of shops and restaurants were within easy walking distance of the hotel. There was a handy bus stop located just in front of the hotel. The staff was friendly and accomodating. If you're seeking a newer, 5 Star property, Ambiance Villas is not for you. It is a smaller, older property with all of the basic amenities necessary for a relaxing vacation.
Traveler type: Couples
Take the R2 or R15 bus to Walmart and back (roundtrip) for 15 pesos per person. Buy beer, wine, tequila, snacks, etc. for the room. See the sights along the way and save money over buying items like these at nearby shops.

The best beach in Cancun! The breakfast every morning was great. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The lady on the ... beach hired by the hotel that did massages did wonders for your back. This is the forth time to Cancun but we now know where we will be staying next time--The Ambiance Villas. The store across the street was very convenient and saved us a lot of money. The food and drinks at the Ambiance were very good and reasonably priced. Can't wait to go back.

This hotel is absolutely great if you're looking for a smaller place to stay.Staff is very nice, restaurant is open to the ... beach(delicious seafood!!!), waitstaff will make sure you have food and drinks when you're tanning:-) Breakfast in the morning is delicious and you don't have to worry where to go to eat.The beach is very clean, water amazingly warm and clear. One day we left our deposit box open with cash and cc in it-the maid locked it and took the key to the front desk! Overall, we will definitely stay there again. The only negative-the basic rooms don't have fridge but the hotel store has a really nice variety of beverages, snacks, etc. At the check out we got a certificate for a free one night stay-awesome!

Two friends and I stayed at the Ambiance Villas for spring break. It was not much of a party-zone considering there were ... mostly families with small children at the time. However, the beach was absolutely perfect! We walked the shore along the hotel zone and didn't see anything else that even came close. Wide open, white sand, NO ROCKS, volleyball... If I were to return to Cancun, I would definitely stay at the Ambiance Villas again :)

Cancun is now my favorite go-to spot! We absolutely loved Ambiance Villas. The staff was very friendly, the rooms were clean ... and had nice little balconies. It is near all the action (you could walk or take the bus). The beach was awesome! Definitely the best beach that we saw on our 3 day trip. We always had chairs available and those cute little beach shade houses were so cool! 5 Stars for the complimentary buffet breakfast, especially the made to order omlets! My hubby and I still talk about the breakfast. The only thing was the swimming pool was quite cold. They should install a warmer in there, because I love going into swimming pools at night and didn't do it this time! Still overall, one of the best mini vacations that we have had and can't wait to come back to Cancun and Ambiance!

Relaxing traveler Mar 9, 2009
This trip was purely for relaxation and it was that. However the staff were rude, not helpful, and made you feel like you ... were a constant bother. The food was just so-so at best. I chose this hotel based on reviews, price, location, etc. and it did not hold up to the previous standards. Although the beach and pool area were nice the rudeness of the staff made me not want to return to this resort or to Cancun. Been to Caribbean numerous times and have never been treated as poorly as in Mexico.

Klaus Dec 12, 2008
this low rise hotel has truly the best beach in Cancun. We found it very informal and enjoy not to have to go through a lobby ... to get to the beach. The grounds are exceptionally well kept and we appreciate that no loud music is blaring at us. The staff is very accomadating, however, the rooms could do with a table for writing and to telephone from the room is antiquated, since one has to buy a phone card first before making call, rather than add charges to room.

Ambiamce Villas - A small, basic property
Barrie Dec 9, 2008
Ambiance Villas is a small and basic property in the Cancun Hotel Zone. The hotel features a friendly and helpful staff, ... well kept grounds, clean rooms, and a beautifully spacious beach. The hotel is located within walking distance of a shopping plaza and other shops, a number of restaurants, and many night spots. There is a bus stop directly adjacent to the hotel. Our room, a one bedroom suite included a king size bed, a kitchen stocked with flatware and utensils, and a large vanity and shower. This hotel's best feature was its large, clean beach area with many lounge chairs and palapas. Dining options were limited to a small, but adequate, breakfast area near the pool and a small, open air restaurant next to the beach where lunch, dinner and drinks were available. The only drawback we encountered was the extremely loud and annoying music from one of the adjacent hotels which seemed to cater to a young crowd.

Great beach and nice atmosphere
Javier Nov 22, 2008
I really enjoyed this hotel. My girlfriend and myself where there in early November 2008. What we liked: 1) Beach. We ... walked around most of the hotel zone and the beach. Also there where plenty of chairs with small tables and palm trees/umbrellas for guest usage. 2) Location. The location is pretty good, within 10 minutes leisure walk to the busiest area of the hotel zone where there are a couple of malls, bars, discos, etc. If you are lazy you can take the bus which stops very close to the hotel and hop down in 2 stops for about 50 cents each. Also it is maybe a 3-4 minute walk to a supermarket (located in front of the intercontinental hotel) that has I would say good prices for the hotel zone. 3) Hotel. It is not a big chain hotel, it has a condo feeling to it, with rooms split among 5 buildings each 4 stories high. Not many people need to pass in front of your door to get to their room, which I think is nice. The room was very spacious, better than for example the RIU cancun rooms. The equipment was basic (we stayed in the standard room, not the suite), included two beds, tv, chairs, and good amounts of space. The staff was friendly, although housekeeping didn't provide a consistent service, sometimes they would change the bed sheets, a couple of times not and we had to complain. 4) Breakfast. We had breakfast, and you can have it until 11am. The options are quite filling, including fruits, pastries, cereal, milk, coffer, juice, and you can order quesadillas, omelettes, hasbrowns. Also you can pick the ingredients and they make it for you. We basically had brunch there every day, so ended up only having to pay extra for dinner.Disliked: * Housekeeping could be better, since a couple of times we has to ask for our bedsheets to be changed. * There is no elevator, so if you get a room in the fourth floor, then you get a good exercise going up and down. The bell boys carry your luggage up and down, but still for people who can't or don't like stairs might be an issue. * There is no fridge in the room, although suites have it. * A few times it seemed they didn't have enough hot water when we were taking a shower after the beach, but wasn't that bad, it just went a bit colder and we had to adjust the cold/hot water mix. All in all we are happy with our pick, the hotel is a good three stars, reasonably priced (we paid about 79 a night), the beach is better than most other hotels, the pool is nice and clean (we didn't use it much because the beach was awesome, but if you are a pool person I think it should satisfy you). The small bar/restaurant in the beach they have was good, we eat there once and it was nice to feel the sea breeze while having dinner, the price was also good.
