Barbados is a beautiful island and we can't wait to go back. We loved the hotel b/c it was quiet and right on the beach. No ... kids so that was a major plus. There was 1-2 miles of beach that we walked every morning. The staff was very friendly and the food was great.

If you go here take an island tour. We used Williams tours and went around the entire island. The owner/driver was very knowledgeable and there were breathtaking views.

Pictures can be deceptive
Bobby Sep 17, 2009
When we got to the hotel, we were taken to our room. First, the walkways were not very tidy and when we got to the room, the ... airconditioner wasn't working properly, there was a musty smell to the room, and there were a number of flies in the room. The bedsheets smelled horribly and didn't seem to have been properly laundered and/or fresh. We immediately requested a change of hotels not even just the room itself. Luckily, the Manager was very helpful and transferred us to the Almond Beach Resort, Casuarina, which was a nicer, more comfortable and more enjoyable hotel. Pictures on the net can be very deceptive and the Almond Beach Club and Spa is nothing like you see in these pictures. It needs a lot of renovation and repairs to bring it up to world standard, and ideally this hotel should be labeled a one star MOTEL, not even a hotel. It does not even compare to the Motels in the better parts of NJ.

Great value on a lovely island getaway
Delcyjay Aug 14, 2009
I was there for a family reunion and found that I could transfer to another Almond (Cuacina) Beach Hotel property that was ... closer to the family events without an additional charge. I really appreciated that they were so flexible.

The public transportation system is great and easy to use. It cost $1.50 Barbadan dollars to go anywhere on the island.

Check out La Smaritta (Italian restaurant) at Almond Village. The Italian restaurant is great and it's adults only. Also, be sure to dine at Water's Edge at Almond Club. They set up tables right on the beach and serve fine dining foods. We were enjoying dinner one night at Water's Edge and a giant sea turtle came up on the beach!

Almond Club and Spa
Amanda LSU fan Aug 10, 2009
The beach front at the resort is very small. However, if you walk left along the beach, there is a beautiful public beach ... right by the hotel that is also less rocky. The turtle feeding is an amazing experience! The sea turtles are huge! Also be sure to check out the Bajan cooking class. The restaurants, food, and drinks were really great! Also the spa was wonderful. This is a very small resort. It is not like a huge sandals resort. This place is small, quaint, and quiet. If that's what you're looking for, then this would be great for you.

bad customer service
unsatisfied customer Aug 10, 2009
The staff at almond beach club and spa needs to be retrained to to be more friendlier to guests. On most occasions, they ... would just walk pass you without even acknowledging you. The service was unsatisfactory. The reception desk did not explain anything to us. she just handed us a folder and showed us our room. she did not explain how to obtain beach towel, for instance, and other things she should have explained to us. we were basically left to figure it out on our own. The room was very clean and well maintanined throughout our stay. the pools were also very clean and well maintained. The food was great; however, 1 person takes care of up to 4 tables during dinner causing very long waits the same band played 2 consecutive nights---they were not even good to begin with.

"A Delightful Getaway"
Nicolini Jul 7, 2009
Almond Beach Club was a beautiful hotel. I would recommend it highly. I feel though that it was more suited for couples so I ... wouldn't suggest a group of single friends stay there. It was a quieter hotel and if you are looking for a wild time this is not the place. The food in the restaurants was absolutely delicious. Although do not always plan on getting what you order because the staff will substitute when they are out of a particular item and not tell you before-hand. If you are there you must make a reservation at Enid's. It is the bajan restaurant which is included in the all-inclusive package. The service is much more personalized the the food is amazing!

you don't have to leave the resort!
Christian Aug 17, 2007
The resort was excellent, I highly recomend playing volleyball at 4pm. Also most water sports are included (water skiing, ... snorkeling, bannana boat, kayak) so take advantage of those if you are looking for adventure, there is plenty to see snorkeling including sea turtles and fish the size of sharks! The food in the main dinning hall is so so but if you make reservations at Enid's you won't be dissapointed! Also take advantage of the shuttles between the Almond club and village, the village has an italian and seafood resturaunt, both are excellent. The room was large, comfortable, great view and air conditioning! I will definatley go back.

Great food!
catherine Jun 29, 2007
I had never stayed at an all inclusive before and was pleasantly surprised. The food was fantastic and the drinks were ... great. The local cuisine restaurant, Enid's, was delicious and was also included in the package. The property was fairly small but well kept and clean. There were 3 pools that had a nice lounge area. There is no beach to enjoy. But you can lounge in a sandy area that is right on the water so it wasn't so bad. They had daily shuttles going to the sister property 20 minutes away that had the large beach. The only negative was the attitude of the waitstaff and groundkeepers. They were all quite grumpy and never smiled or acknowledged you. (The front desk staff was very friendly and professional.) The waitstaff was also very disorganized. It was never clear who was taking your food order and who was taking your drink order. But none of this was apparent enough to put a damper on my stay.
