Amazing Parisian Experience!
darcy_va Oct 6, 2009
This was our 1st trip to Paris, and we did it with a toddler--scary stuff when booking a hotel on-line! But we took the ... plunge after reviewing dozens of options by using the reviews which were very accurate, and we had an amazing time. Yes, the hotel rooms are smaller than those in the States. But our double room (one double bed) held a desk, two nightstands, a big armoire...AND there was room to walk around the bed with a baby cot (ie rectangular shaped pack-n-play, no charge). I had emailed the hotel a couple of times in advance w/ various 'mom' questions. There were very amiable and quick in all responses. All staff we encountered was delightful. Our room was kept spotlessless, despite bakery crumbs from the toddler, all bedding was spotless (who is crazy enough to use white everything?), and they really straightened up while we were out for the day...including fresh sheets for the cot and putting a stuffed animal safely back in it. Bakery next door is pretty good. One door down is a greek restaurant (also with to go options). When my eats-anything-at-home toddler quit eating, we found this place was a good, inexpensive option. Turns out she loves greek food! Le Mic Mac restaurant on Saint Michel was hands down our favorite. It's hard to have a great Parisian food experience w/ a toddler--for those with older or no kids along you will find an abundance of choices. Saint Michel Metro stop less than a block from the hotel. Notre Dame is a 5 minute walk, as is the Seinne, multiple souvenier shops for last minute gifts. Buy a carnet of metro tix...when your feet are tired this is a great way to get around! WHEN we go back (without child), we will definitely want to stay here again. The streets can get noisy at night though--so if you're a light sleeper who likes the windows open you probably don't want to stay in this area. When windows are closed it's very quiet. If I had to pick one tiny thing we didn't like...neither of us took a watch (we rely on our cell phones at home) and there is no clock in the room...so it's easy to lose track of time.

Quiet, Clean, Great Location
Sometime Traveller Oct 5, 2009
We must have stayed in a renovated room (on the 5th floor). It was very clean, all bathroom/toilet fixtures looked brand ... new. Naturally, not very large, but big enough for us. We also had a small balcony, from which we could see the Seine and the Louvre in the distance. The most amazing thing was the soundproofing: we coudn't hear any street noise even though the hotel is right in the middle of all the action!

Very good hotel stay
LWP Sep 7, 2009
This was the first trip to Paris for my husband and me and we were very happy with this hotel. The location was great with ... respect to ease of access to the Metro, restaurants and Notre-Dame. (We were able to visit the Cathedral early in the morning with no one around and at night when it was beautifully lit up.) There is a bakery right next to the hotel so we were able to open our balcony doors to the smell of fresh bread every morning. If I return to Paris, I would like to stay here again. I definitely recommend it! (The only disadvantages are the small rooms and corridors.)
Traveler type: Couples
There is a small grocery store near the hotel that sells wine as well as food. We bought some wine at the store and put in the hotel fridge, so that it would be ready when we wanted to picnic along the Seine near Notre-Dame.

Behind Notre Dame, at the end of the Ile de la Cite, there is a monument to the Holocaust, dedicated "To the two hundred thousand French martyrs who died in concentration camps." It's a simple memorial, down some stairs, with a modern sculpture that resembles barbed wire. There's a narrow corridor that you look down with 200,000 tiny lights, one for each person. It's very moving. It's not mentioned in many guidebooks, but is well worth a visit.

Wonderful place to stay in Paris!
Deb Aug 19, 2009
We stayed in the Hotel d'Albe for 4 nights at the end of a 3 1/2 week European trip. Our experience there was wonderful! We ... are a family of 3 - myself, my husband and our 11-year old son. At check-in, we were upgraded (at no extra cost) to a corner triple room. Having read other reviews of Parisian hotels, I had been expecting a small, cramped room, with a tiny bathroom and intermittent air conditioning. Our room was nothing like that - it was spacious, spotlessly clean, and with a new and good-sized bathroom. The air conditioning worked well, which was good, since it was warm & somewhat humid when we were there. The hotel offers continental breakfast for 7 euros, and buffet breakfast for 11 euros, which seemed pricey to me, so for our first breakfast we ate at the bakery next door (which was just OK). The next day we decided to try the hotel breakfast, which was great! We ate there the rest of the time. And at the end, they only charged us the continental breakfast rate, even though my husband had eggs, ham & cheese every day. The staff was helpful & kind, but not intrusive. There were people in the streets below at all hours of the night, but with the double paned glass on the windows and the air conditioning, we weren't too bothered by street noise. (Might have been different if we hadn't been using the air conditioning!) Although we usually weren't out late at night, the neighborhood of the hotel felt quite safe. The location of this hotel was perfect - we walked almost everywhere - to Notre Dame, Ste. Chapelle, the medieval museum Cluny, the Louvre, the Musee d'Orsay. And we took the nearby batobus (boat bus), which was convenient and fun, to get to the Champs Elysees and the Eiffel Tower. The hotel is also convenient to Charles de Gaulle airport - just take the RER B to St. Michel, which is 1/2 a block away. St. Michel is also a great stop on the Metro, so you're very close to excellent public transportation. There were numerous restaurants nearby, and we enjoyed a couple of close by gelato places! We stayed in the Hotel d'Albe at the end of our trip, when we were all a bit tired of traveling, and so we spent more time in the hotel than we would normally - but it was so clean & comfortable that it was a good place to relax in the afternoon, before going out for dinner in the evening. The Hotel d'Albe worked out really well for us, and I would definitely stay there again if we go back to Paris!

Convenient center location
evensteven Jul 26, 2009
This hotel is in a remarkably convenient location to see many top Paris attractions by walking short distances, and is also ... accessible to the Metro and RER trains. My room was spotless with many new amenities, such as a TV, hair dryer, and individual thermostat so I could adjust the fan settings and temperature as I saw fit. There was a breakfast available for an additional cost, which was helpful on a few occasions, but it's more fun to find cafes and patisseries by walking. All the staff were friendly and helpful. My only complaint is that due to its location it was almost impossible not to go to bed to the loud noise of groups of people at neighboring restaurants or streets until at least 2 or 3 in the morning. Some rooms may be quieter, but I doubt it. Consider ear plugs and you'll be fine there.

If you're staying for a week, be certain to get a weekly Metro pass, which allows unlimited service within most of Paris, without you having to pay additionally or having to stand in line. The calendar runs, however, from Sunday to Saturday, so purchasing one mid-week is not as useful.

Latin Quarter- NonSmoking Hotel
Andrew Apr 22, 2009
Great location for access to the big sights in Paris. The hotel is located in the busiest restuarant section for tourists, ... so it is a bit noisy. There is a busy public square around the corner where street performers do their shows nightly until late, so the area is rather noisy. Very easy access to the Metro and RER. You can walk 50 yards and be in the hotel after taking the RER B line from the airport. Great location to go back to the room if you are tired from seeing all of the major attractions of Paris. Many restaurants availble in the block.

Hotel d'Albe is a great find in the busy Latin Quarter - just across the river from Notre Dame. Our room was large and ... located on the top floor. The bathroom was also large and well furnished. The hotel staff are helpful and thoughtful. I continue to return to this hotel - it was my 4th visit. My friends first visit and he was impressed also.
