Commonly asked questions about cheap cruise vacations

Thursday, October 1st, 2009

For travelers thinking about taking a cheap cruise, now is the time. CheapTickets is offering hundreds of cheap cruises on your favorite cruise lines like Royal Caribbean, Carnival Cruise Lines, Disney Cruise Line and Norwegian Cruise Lines. If you’ve never set sail, you might have some questions. Let CheapTickets answer some of the most commonly asked questions:Cheap Cruise

What does my cruise fare include?
In most cases, your cruise fare will include your room, meals in the buffet restaurants and main dining room, most entertainment, and 24-hour room service. It does not include discretionary items such as specialty restaurants, organized shore excursions, alcoholic beverages, gratuities, spa treatments, medical services, casino expenditures, or other miscellaneous items.

What type of clothes should I pack for my cruise?
Consider your cruise itinerary when deciding what to pack. For tropical cruises, you’ll want to take shorts, skirts or sundresses, pants, t-shirts, knit tops, one formal outfit and a bathing suit.  For cooler days or Alaska cruises pack warmer clothes such as sweaters, raincoats, and fleece. It is also a good idea to bring a pair of sneakers or rubber-soled shoes for deck sports. For international cruises, keep in mind that some shore excursions to shrines or religious sites require a more conservative dress code. (more…)

Cheap cruises
The only thing better than a cheap cruise is a free cruise, and that’s just what kids get on select Disney cruises.

For a limited time, kids ages 12 and under sail for free when they stay with parents in select staterooms on 3-night Disney Cruise Line sailings departing January 22 through May 28, 2009. Parents just pay for kids’ taxes and fees.

Disney offers cheap cruises for adults, with a 3-night Bahamas cruise starting at $349. The trip includes stops in Nassau and Castaway Cay, Disney’s private island. At Castaway Cay, travelers can enjoy a beach barbeque, go snorkeling or parasailing, or relax with a massage in a beach cabana.

Onboard, kids, teens and adults will find plenty to do. There’s a kids pool and water slide and supervised activities for children age 3-12; volleyball and basketball courts; and an adults-only pool with two whirlpools. At night, families have their choice of shows: comedy, musicals — even a ventriloquist show.
