Play ball! The boys of summer might be all there’s to watch in August if the football lockout continues. Grab your glove and head out on this tour of 3 Midwest baseball stadiums in 3 days and watch 6 teams play in these cities known for brats and beers.
Friday, Aug. 12
Check into a cheap Milwaukee hotel like the Hilton Milwaukee City Center then head to Miller Park. The Milwaukee Brewers host the Pittsburgh Pirates at 7:10 p.m. No matter the weather , you’ll stay dry with the only fan-shaped convertible roof in North America.
Saturday, Aug. 13
Wake up and drive 90 miles south to Chicago. Hit the South Side to watch the Chicago White Sox host the Kansas City Royals at U.S Cellular Field. The first pitch is at 6:10 p.m. That’s plenty of time to scout out the Windy City and check into your cheap Chicago hotel, perhaps the Homewood Suites Chicago Downtown.
Insider tip: take the Red Line from downtown to the Sox/35th station.
Sunday, August 14
Check out early; the drive to St. Louis is 5 hours where the Cardinals host the Colorado Rockies at Busch Stadium starting at 1:15 p.m. You’ll be among the 90 percent of fans who attend games from outside St. Louis proper. Be sure to book a cheap St. Louis hotel if you’re going to spend the night.
