Soak up sun and savings at these cheap Hawaii hotels

The Royal Lahaina Resort debunks the myth that all Hawaii hotels are expensive.

By Susan Johnston

For many of us, going on a last-minute trip is about as easy as solving the budget deficit. But for the spontaneous types out there, here’s a reason to plan a cheap Hawaiian vacation. Next week is the 138th Banyan Tree Birthday Party, which is scheduled for April 23rd and 24th in Lahaina. And no, we won’t be jealous while you consider this Hawaii hotel and we sit in the corner and stew. Pffft.

Royal Lahaina Resort
Evoking the laidback elegance of Hawaii’s Plantation Era, the Royal Lahaina Resort in Maui is part of the Kaanapali Beach Resort and features 27 acres of tropic gardens and laws. Its two on-property restaurants serve delicious local and Mediterranean cuisine set against breathtaking views. Accommodations are available in the newly refurbished 12-story Lahaina Kai Tower or in beachside cottages. Both feature open-air lanais. On top of the amenities found at the resort, travelers also rave about the shopping at the nearby Whalers Village.
