Cheap Toronto hotels: Getaways to the Great White North

By Vince Font

If you’re in the market for an out of town vacation and you’re entertaining ideas for an alternative to the typical Caribbean or Yucatan Peninsula destination, maybe it’s time you turned your sights 180 degrees and took a look at what our friendly neighbors up north in Toronto have to offer. Sure, Canada doesn’t exactly experience tropical weather — but you said you wanted an interesting change, so here it is. What’s even better, you can find cheap Toronto hotels that give the discounted rates you’re used to scoring south of the border a run for their money.

In most cases, the more you extend your stay the bigger your savings — and sometimes, the amount you pay will actually go down if you stay longer. For a best example, take a look at the Courtyard by Marriott Toronto Downtown. With nightly rates around $100, that alone would be enough to qualify it as one of the big discount Toronto hotels — but figure in round trip airfare and prices really start to plummet. With the total cost of a 4-night stay running only $35 more than a 2-night stay, you begin to see the benefits of buying into a multi-day package deal and sticking around longer than a single night.

All of which makes perfect sense in the end. Toronto is, after all, a huge and colorful city with more to see and do than would ever be possible to accomplish in just a single day. Saving money while visiting the Great White North is just the icing on the cake that makes staying at a cheap Toronto hotel feel more like a lucrative investment than a costly vacation.

When booking your flight/hotel package, don’t forget to also include a rental car if you want to be able to see the city on your own timetable without having to rely on public transportation.
