Saying you live in Los Angeles doesn’t mean much, considering the city spreads out across such an expansive area. And since I live on the outskirts of Los Angeles in a high desert area, date night and family weekend excursions often involve staying at a cheap Los Angeles hotel.
Throughout our jaunts into the city to search out sophisticated night life and dive into our unique West Coast culture, we’ve uncovered some reasonable downtown Los Angeles hotels. Whether you’re flying in and need a great deal, looking to host a night out with friends, or simply a local like me planning a “staycation,” here are some great cheap Los Angeles Hotels to put on your reserve-now list:
- Hotel Angeleno is a hop, skip and a jump from the airport; plus it’s right after one of the major freeway arteries of the city. It’s also less than five minutes (give or take a few with city traffic) to the world-renowned Getty Center. We love it because it’s freeway-fast, has a hip vibe, and is close to date-night haunts like the Sunset Strip, Westwood, and it’s not that far from Santa Monica. Good deals, inviting rooms, friendly service. Better yet, there is a top eatery at the top of this cylindrical hotel where you can spend what you save on the hotel room. It’s worth it!
- The Beach House at Hermosa Beach is an absolute family favorite when it comes to Los Angelese beach hotels. As a recent surprise Father’s Day treat for the best daddy in the world, my sons and I booked a weekend retreat at this home away from home. Who wouldn’t love to have a room facing the gorgeous Hermosa Beach and then simply step outside the door, to feel the sand and soak up the surf. It’s smack-dab on the Hermosa boardwalk, which means restaurants and nightlife galore in less than a two-minute walk. The hotel features generous rooms with fireplaces, semi-enclosed bedrooms, fold-out sofa beds, and mini kitchens with small burner, microwave, large fridge, plates and cutlery. Plus, the room comes with a deluxe Continental breakfast.
- J.W. Marriott L.A. Live is one of the newest and best downtown Los Angeles hotels near the entertainment-filled L.A. Live complex across from the Staples Center. It’s the perfect place to rest after another Lakers victory or a great concert at the Nokia Center. Rates make this a super cheap Los Angeles hotel, especially with the included amenities and special discount spa packages.
Be spontaneous and check in on last-minute “sizzling” cheap Los Angeles hotel deals that pop up — certain hotels want to ensure they’re full on weekends or they may be looking to get more traffic during the mid-week slow period. With so much to do across Los Angeles, it’s worth taking a chance on an overnight stay to soak up the fun.
