If you’ve got a Boston vacation in the works, a great time to go is early July. The Annual Boston Harborfest ChowderfestChowdahfest for the locals, is a six-day long, 4th of July festival that runs from June 30 – July 5. The event celebrates the colonial history of the area and will add an unforgettable chowdah flavor to your Boston vacation.

Chowderfest is a well-known favorite, so you’ll have to book your Boston hotels early. Luckily, the events held during the festival are spread across the historic downtown and waterfront districts, which means you’ll find plenty of great Boston hotels located right in the action.

I’m a fan of the Boston Harbor Hotel at Rowes Wharf. The Boston Harbor Hotel is situated right on the waterfront; the last time my family vacationed in Boston, we arrived at our hotel via boat-ride direct from the airport. Needless to say, it was a treat for all of us. Besides being conveniently located right on the waterfront, the Boston Harbor Hotel is accessible to the downtown area by foot. And it’s just minutes away from the historic Faneuil Hall where Chowderfest kicks off.

If your Boston vacation includes the kids, check out the 16th Annual Children’s Day as part of the Chowderfest festivities. It’s an entire day dedicated to teaching kids of all ages U.S. and Boston History. The wide range of kid-friendly events and activities take place on July 1, and are free to the public.
