If you get cheap airfare, New York can be an inexpensive place to travel. How? Well, here are a few ideas:
"The New York City Waterfalls" art installation, a set of four waterfalls in the East River, is a free public art exhibit. The waterfalls are located on Pier 35 in Manhattan, under the Brooklyn Bridge, between piers 4 and 5 in Brooklyn and on the north shore of Governor’s Island. You can see the falls from land, or take the free Staten Island Ferry or Governor’s Island Ferry. The exhibit runs through October 13.
Want more art? Many New York museums offer free or discounted admission at certain times of the week. Get details.
You can enjoy the beauty and serenity of Central Park for free on your own, or take one of the many free walking tours offered by the Central Park Conservancy. Or, you can take free walking tours of the Grand Central area — including the Grand Central Terminal and Chrysler Building — or Wall Street.
If you want to plan a last minute trip and travel to New York this weekend, you can catch a free Broadway concert. Broadway on Broadway, on Sunday, September 14, is a free outdoor concert featuring stars from many popular Broadway productions. The concert kicks off at 11:30 a.m. in Times Square. And if you want to see a full show while you’re in New York, CheapTickets has deals on theater tickets.
