Location, location, location. Very nicely decorated. Spotless and met our needs. We had a horrible view of the parking lot ... next door and the pillows were about the worst I've seen at any hotel. However, the room was nicely decorated and the location doesn't get any better. If you want a room for a comfortable sleep, this hotel works great. Just bring your own pillow.

In the past this hotel was top notch. I thought the king room we were to get was to be 330 sq ft. This one sure seemed ... smaller. First night we had a noisy motor in our mini bar...told management...not sure if someone did anything..kept us up...next day we switched to the room next door. Would have liked an upgrade due to the inconvience. Also the drapes showed some wear. Hotel needs to be checked closely for signs of "aging"

Perfect location - loved the window seat seating!!
Karlyn Sep 21, 2008
I highly recommend the Hotel Monoco for its location, comfort and window seats! My teenager and I could walk to countless ... tourist sites from the hotel. Additionally, I retire early so appreciated that my nightowl son could surf the internet from the curtain enclosed window seat alcove, while still allowing the room to be dark. The hotel staff was fabulous with restaurant and shopping recommendations. Finally, when my son slept-in, I enjoyed the complementary coffee, in-hotel restaurant and fitness room. I'll be back!!

The perfect get away!
Scott Aug 24, 2008
We stayed in the Mediterranean suite. What a great room. The colors were lively but not overwhelming and the furniture was ... appropriate to the feel and size of the room. Our room had a river view and was on the 4th floor. The location came with a fair amount of street noise but, for the most part, it was not disruptive. The staff was EXTREMELY helpful and courteous. There is one restaurant on site but many within a short walk. It was also a very short walk to Michigan Ave. I would highly recommend this hotel.

We were very pleased with the Hotel Monaco in Chicago. Our room was very nice, the bed was comfortable, and the other ... furnishings were lovely. The location of the hotel was just right, walking distance to Navy Pier and to the museums. We were especially happy that we could get into our room early, we had an early flight into Chicago and expected the staff to hold our luggage for us until the 3:00 check in. Since our room was ready, we were given a key and had the use of the room for the day :) The hotel restaurant is very good.

PERFECT in every way!
Gina Aug 9, 2008
Hotel Monaco was absolutely PERFECT! From check-in to check-out the experience was wonderful. Service was beyond what I could ... have ever expected. The doorman, was by far the best I have ever had in all my travels. He went out of his way to make sure that we were well taken care of. Traveling for the first time with my goddaughters, ages 8 & 10, I couldn't have chosen a better place to stay. The location was ideal. The meditation stations & goldfish were definitely the highlights of our stay. Not only did the manager give my girls a goodie backpack upon check-in but there were small child-size leopard bathrobes waiting for them when we got back to the hotel after a spin around the city.To top it off - my goddaughter's retainer BROKE after only being in the city for 2 hours ... and being after hours I was sure our trip would be ruined. But after a few calls to the concierge, he helped us find a dentist who was willing to see us. I cannot say enough about the kindness & attention that everyone at this hotel showed us. It was somewhat unbelievable - but very appreciated & welcome. We are already planning our next visit to Chicago - & I don't think I can stay anywhere else but Hotel Monaco!!!

The staff was really friendly. Also, the hotel was very conveniently located. You could walk to everything downtown and there ... were 2 above ground stations within a block if you wanted to catch public transit. I think it was a little pricey for the actual accomodation, but the location was great.

My husband & I very much enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Monaco last weekend. The location was great for everything - Navy ... Pier, my husband's convention, transportation to all parts of the city and within walking distance of shopping and restaurants. The little things such as providing an umbrella in the room, the wine reception every afternoon, the relaxation channels, the goldfish and the yoga bag, as well as the pleasant, friendly attitude of all the staff we met, made us feel most welcome. We definitely plan to return to this hotel in the future.

We were very pleased with our stay at the Hotel Monaco in Chicago. The rooms were clean, bed was comfortable, and ... beautifully decorated. We appreciated the helpful check-in people and got lots of useful advice from the concierge. I stayed at the Hotel Monaco Chicago for only the weekend but it was very nice. I hardly ever saw anyone and the place was ... booked. My husband and I really enjoyed the Hotel Monaco in Chicago with our river-view room, the comfy bed and window seat, and the ... proximity to theatres, shopping, and great restaurants. The staff met our every need and followed up on each request with gracious hospitality. They even came back to the room twice a day, once to do the usual and then again later to leave us ice and chocolates! We loved it!

The Hotel Monaco is a wonderful place to stay! Just 1 block from Michigan Ave and the River, with a variety of nearby dining ... options, the location was ideal for us. The hotel staff was friendly, courteous, and eager to help. The hotel decor was lovely, done in Deco, everything was well thought out, down to the elevator music! The hotel room was extremely clean and very comfortable. It was nice having a safe in the room to secure valuables. The bathroom was large, stocked with better name toiletries and fluffly towels. The shower water pressure was perfect [weak shower pressure is a pet-peeve of mine] with plenty of hot water. The hotel, overall, is very quiet; the hallways, the rooms. Even though we had a steet facing room on the 2nd floor, the only time we heard any street noise was when a fire engine went roaring by.

Myself and my new wife thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this kimpton hotel. It is located in such a bustling area of Chicago. ... Everything that we wanted to see was literally a hop, skip, and a jump from where we stayed. Even though the big city was just outside our window, we felt quite at home in our beautiful white and green paneled room. The hotel service was phenominal. From the bell hop to the valet we were quite impressed with the professionalism and kindness. There was no end to the food bar, and the bathroom contained every immenity we could imagine. Our stay was so delightful, and I'm certain that we will use the hotel monaco once agiain in the coming months.

Everything about the Hotel Monaco Chicago was great- check in was a breeze, the room was big with comforable beds, a big ... bathroom and great bathroom goodies! Loved the window seats. Staff was helpful and the restaurant very laid back with good food and wine. Close to the theater district and the elevated train. They had an umbrella in the room for use, which we needed. Space in the City
Nancy Aug 11, 2007
The joy of staying at the Monaco or any Klimpton Hotel is the spaciousness of the room and the high quality of the ... experience. Well located just south of the Chicago River and within an easy walk of the Magnificant Mile this hotel has it all. A beautiful redo of an old venerable Chicago hotel the Monaco uses color beautifully and has sumptious finishes. The deep window seats are cushioned and provide a nice city view. The corridors and entrance area of the room are spacious and welcoming. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to enjoy the delights of Chicago. Don't miss Millenium park (3 short city blocks away) or the free rehearsals usually Wednesday afternoon - grab a sandwich and enjoy seeing the artists as they perfect their craft. The amazing Geary concert space is worth a visit whether there is a performance/rehearsal in progress or not.
