Fly off-peak hours
When booking your airline reservations, avoid peak hours of travel, such as early morning and late afternoon; mid-day departures and red-eyes are often less expensive.

Keep an eye out for business-oriented hotels near the area you'd like to stay, and check their weekend hotel rates. When the suit-and-tie crowd checks out on Fridays, many hotel rooms become available, and these hotels often offer huge savings over their regular, weekday hotel rates.

Airport vs. city
